    Thumbs up SuperMan Movie <3

I don't want to give much away, but just say that I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!

It was just as good as the old one. Almost three hours long, but didn't feel like it bc I enjoyed it that much. They even made the character look a bit like Christopher Reeves. It was close I think. And boy is that new guy HOT.

Wifey and I are going to see it in 3 hours. I've been DYING to see it for months and months. My wife is more of an X-Men fan so when we went to see the last one a few weeks ago, I told her "That was okay, but I can guarantee you it's not going to be anywhere near as good as Superman is going to be" so we have a bet.

I fell in love with the new movie (before even seeing it might I add) just off the stills from the movie. I think the Director has a really good idea of artistry in film and the one shot of the "Kent" mailbox against the wheat fields of the family farm that they have on their website is absolutely brilliant. It says so much with just a simple photograph. I've been been looking forward to this movie for a very long time so I can't wait to see it!

    Ghost Rider I can dig.

I haven't seen the movie yet - but apparently it has some controversy for today's age - everything from Lois drugging up her illigitimate child while cheating on her boyfriend to a slacker "lemme discover myself" super man to no longer being allowed (by the "1984" like political police) to say "Truth! Justice! And the American Way!" (Yea, Hollywood says, FUCK AMERICA!)

This should be an entertaining read for some:

I really liked Superman and I'm not a big Superman fan or a fan of any other superhero.

Saw it on Thursday. It was a huge disappointment. If this movie was called what it actually is - a remake - it would be ripped to shreds as it was an inferior copy to Donner's film. Logic - even comic book logic - is thrown out the window. Nobody actually talks to anybody. Superman becomes a superstalker. And there's no fun.

Boring. Listless. Totally failed to live up to the hype. Superman and the fans deserved better.

...movie was good. I hope they will put out a "Justice League" non-cartoon movie where some equally powered villains are battled.

Well, we saw it last night and if I had to give it a letter grade, I'd give it a "B". Overall, I really enjoyed the move quite a bit. I guess my only gripe was that while the director of the film did a good job directing the overal movie, he did a very poor job of directing the actors. Perry White seemed extremely mellow like he was on Prozac. Lois Lane had big shoes to fill with Margo Kidder and she didn't do it. And while Brandon Routh played a somwhat convincing Superman, he did a very bad job with Clark Kent. I think this is really where Christopher Reeve did a much better job being a much more versitile actor and they gave Brandon very little lines in the movie. I actually think that Jimmy Olson had twice as many lines in the movie than Clark Kent and Superman combined. Kevin Spacey, one of the best actors of our time (studying under Jack Lemmon) could have been better but didn't bring the charm to the role that Gene Hackman did with the chemistry of Ned Beatty in the original films.

Overall though, I did enjoy the storyline even though it was a little long (but they had a big story to tell which is fine with me) and the action sequences were amazing. The original film had a tagline, "You'll believe a man can fly" and in the new movie, you really can. I've waited a long time to see this film and while it could have been a lot better, I don't feel let down by it either and they obviously set the stage for a sequel so we'll see where that goes.

I saw it and I am a big Superman fan. I think I'd add to what DW said and say that all the characters seemed mellow and on Prozac! It dragged a lot.

Somewhere in between the actors Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey is the real portrayal of Lex Luthor. Maybe it would be better to say that about the script-writer's take on the character, as either of these actors could handle anything you gave them.

I don't think Christopher Reeve can be replaced in the role.

A little light on the action, but that's cool. They made Superman a character rather than a posterboy and that's cool, too. All in all i think it was terrif, to no-one's great surprise..

Well, my wife and I just sat down and watched the original 1978 movie and I have to say, it really was a much better film. Christopher Reeve really did play the role many times better. He wasn't so stoic all the time like Routh was. There's just no comparison as to who is the better actor. Also, Gene Hackman's style was so much more entertaining as a madman super villain. The scene where Superman breaks down the door to his underground home is priceless where Hackman says with perfect commedic timing, "Come on in, it's open....my attorney will be in touch with you about the damage to the door." ...Just classic. While the new movie was really good, the orignal was simply awesome movie making that the new film just did not capture.

Yet it is slavishly tied to it, to its ultimate detriment.

I turned to my friend halfway throughout, after the bajillionth "homage" and whispered, "If I wanted to watch the 1978 movie, I could have stayed at home and popped the DVD in." If this movie was advertised as what it is - a remake - it would probably be panned as totally inferior. And again I say, we waited this long for this?!?

    Oh well...

I think that Lex Luthor is over-played and they should use Brainiac or some other nemesis of Superman.

Superman's rogue gallery has never been all that great - certainly not when compared to Batman's. And regarding Brainiac, most people will see that as a Luthor from space figure.

Problem is that early on DC made Superman nigh invulnerable, so you had to have villains that used kryptonite, and you had a lot of brains vs brawn type stories. You also had just strange magical and alien concepts like Mr. Mxyzptlk, the imp from the fifth dimension, or Bizarro, Superman's imperfect double.

Personally my vote for the next movie is Titano, the Super Ape! C'mon, it's a giant ape that has kryptonite vision and a soft spot for Lois Lane!

Depends on which Braniac they use. There have been several different incarnations of the character. If they were to, say, use a combination between the "Braniac 13" of the comics and the Animated series Braniac it would hardly be seen as a Luther from space.

Just saw it tonight... and it brought back my old superman crush

Kevin Spacey was perfect for Lex Luthor.
