    Sad I found a lump..

Last night in bed I found a hard lump just under the skin on one of my breasts... I had implants (unders) 3 months ago, but the lump is too close to the surface to have anything to do with that.. I'm only 19, way too young to have breast cancer, right? Urgh, I'm freaking out 'cause it's sunday and I haven't been able to call my doctor or even my plastic surgeon.. Does anyone have any advice?

You're way too young to have cancer unless you have a pronounced risk of it in your gene pool....it's probably an inflamed duct or cyst.
There are a few breast lump threads in Body Business...do a search....

It could be a whole variety of things...and none of them have anything to do with cancer. Just relax and try not to worry about it. Call your doc first thing in the morning and make an appointment. Until then, there is really nothing you can do. It could be something as simple as a clogged duct to a benign (the better kind) cyst.

    Good luck!

It's most likely a cyst, but y'all, she is NOT "too young" for breast cancer. There are different varieties of breast cancer, and for some reason no one quite knows yet, there is a rapid increase these days in the kind that appears in very young women (teenagers and twentysomethings). Unfortunately, this kind is also highly aggressive and has the highest mortality rate. So if you feel a lump or anything suspicious, get it checked out ASAP!!

Call your doctor. Get a fine needle biopsy. Then you will be able to sleep at night.

Ugh, I've been trying to get ahold of the doctor all morning, and I finally got an answering machine that says they're closed "for the Independence day holiday".. wtf? Today's the 3rd, not the 4th! Why are people so lazy?! Ugh! :-(

Other than being not good for your peace of mind, a few days' delay won't cause any harm. As hard as it will be, try to relax on the holiday.

Thanks for the replies, girls.. I'm feeling much better after reading the threads I found searching for this topic. Hopefully it's just a cyst.. But I'll make sure to call the doctor wednesday morning :-)
