    Smiley Shopping List & Stuff

Ok.. I still have yet to do my Baby Shopping. I had intended on doing it a few weeks back, but that was Father's Day and I splurged on Dan instead, with the Grill and stuff. He deserves it once in a while. Heh. So, we'll be going on the 15th to get everything we need. The list is below. I think it's complete, but if you all see anything I forgot, let me know! It's been a few years, so I may be a bit rusty on baby things... My Sister sent a brand new crib (woot!) and Dan had fun putting that together last week. It vibrates, and has the mobile.. It even has a remote to control both! Ha!

How exciting! Your list looks great. I may suggest getting some bibs - I guess you don't need them right away, but my 2 month old is spitting up/drooling like crazy.

Also forgot spit up (burp towels) rags. Even when breast feeding they will get sick some.

Yes yes... Thank you, all.. I forgot about the Bibs.. I was just thinking about the spit-up cloths this morning too, so I've added them to the shopping list. With Delia, I got one of those 12-packs of cloth diapers and used them for burp/spit-up cloths. They're fairly cheap and durable. Delia had Reflux, so we used them A LOT until we changed her formula to the Enfamil AR.. LOL

Rhia back in the day if Mrs FBR had presented me with your list I would have had to declare bankruptcy

I know your thread is for the ladies but I read it anyways, probably because my daughter-in-law is only about 6 weeks away from her due date. This will be our first granddaughter

Do you have a glider chair? My wife says the horizontal motion (as opposed to the arcing motion of a traditional rocking chair) is more soothing to the baby. We bought one for the D-I-L, of course....along with just about her entire baby shower list I'm about to take away her checkbook and credit cards

Looking forward to your announcement of the arrival when it happens.

LOL FBR.. Dan saw the list and started tearing up. We're starting over completely though because I gave all baby stuff away to my Sister when I decided I wasn't having anymore. That'll teach me, right? LOL

We don't have a glider, but when I was pregnant with Delia, my Mother-In-Law gave me a rocker that's been in Dan's family for generations. It's great.

I welcome responses from both Ladies and Gents. Guys know a lot of stuff about babies too, so don't hesitate at all if you think of anything!

Another idea that I used was to buy my oldest daughter a babydoll with diapers and a bottle. We gave this to her when she came to see the "new baby". She then had her own baby to take care of while we tended to the "new baby". It really helped.

Also don't forget a hairbrush for yourself. Button down nightgowns worked very well for nursing and for when the nurses and doctors come in to examine. One more thing is cigars or bubble gum ones for Dan to hand out! He will feel great that you remembered him!

    Awesome ideas, Kryssy.. Thanks!
I attempted the baby doll thing with my Son just before my oldest Daughter was born.. He didn't take to that very well. He threw the doll on the floor and started stomping on it, and he was staring right in my face the whole time.. LOL.. He was a little jaded when she showed up. He was fine when we were in the hospital---but he didn't realize that she was coming home. He didn't come near me for about 2 weeks, and he wouldn't even look in her direction. Haha
I think Delia will be a little better with the doll though (I hope!), so I'll be sure to pick one up.

Your Very Welcome! After my oldest, my hubby and I had to go at it by ourselves (as both mothers past away)!

One more thing that i did not see is a medical kit. It has the clippers, medicine discpincer (sp?), nose suction, ect in it. It was so easy to just keep in the diaper bag and we always had it when needed. Target has a great set for 19.99. What about one of those triangle pillows that you put their body in the middle of so that they can't roll over while sleeping or laying on the couch?

I had a medical kit in my registry, and HoneyHitz got it for me. It came in last week.. Weee! (Thanks again, Honey *muah*)
So that's all set. There's a few things that I left off the shopping list, because some SWers have been so wonderful and got them off the registries. It totally helps out and we're very grateful.

I also forgot, you will need one of these

shopping carts are so nasty. You can also use this in highcairs.

I loved having a few of the pads that you put under them to lay them down anywhere. Great so that spitup doesn't get on the furniture or on any surface.
