My first day was decent. Originally I was supposed to work evening shift, but something came up, so I showed up for Dayshift. I was greatful for the switch, since it wasn't as crowded. I felt a lot less pressured about everything.
The DJ was an extremely nice guy, and put up with my indecisiveness (on songs) like a pro. The girls were all awesome, too.
First performance was actually quite funny. About halfway through my first song, my toes came out of the bottom strap of my heel and rested on top of it. I had almost no way to keep my shoe on. My movements became a bit more stiff because i was trying not to fall on my ass while thinking of a way to fix the problem.
... and then my contact lens proceeded to come out of my eye right after the shoe incident. Fortunately it was hanging on my bottom lashes, so I caught it before I lost it.
Luckily, one of the girls came over to talk to me. I worked my way over to the ground, and was able to re-insert my lens and fix my shoe in a fairly discreet manner. Despite the fact that I almost lost a shoe and a contact lens, it wasn't bad for my first time onstage.![]()
The dayshift performances went well, though I did have a hard time selling dances.
On more than one occasion, I was told that I was "so proper" and "seemed too smart to be there" or was "so much better than the other girls around the club. (wtf?) (then why the hell didn't they buy a dance if they liked me that much??)".
Now, I do carry myself in a very mature way, but I think of myself as classy rather than overly-polite, etc. I really don't want to have to dumb myself down just to sell a few dances, but it almost looks like that's what i'll have to do.
Any thoughts?
