Arrow New dancer-advice for stage set??

    Hey everyone,

I was just hired and will be starting next week in a "classier" (gown-only) club. I have only been on stage twice (amateur night type deals) and basically smiled like the cheshire cat and shook my @$$. I'm nervous about looking clumsy but i'm really unsure of what i should be doing on stage. There is no pole and the club forbids dropping down and spreading your cookies to the crowd. I've been told to move my body very slowly, and gently sway my hips back and forth. I've practiced this in the mirror and i think i look odd. Any suggestions? I would greatly apperciate any advice!!! Thanks in advance!!

it is almost inevitable that new dancers will look like, well, new dancers.

you're right about moving slowly, making eye contact and smiling. also watch the other girls, especially the ones who seem to get tipped well on stage. pay attention to the way they move and the personality they project. pick the moves that you like and add your own style to them.

    good luck!!

It's really hard to explain moves in writing. I agree that you should watch the other girls and see what they do. Everyone looks like an awkward new girl when they first start, so just remember that in time you'll pick it up and look like a pro but it will take some time. Also remember that the customers don't care how you dance or if you look awkward, they're just trying to check out your body anyway, so they will be happy as long as you're taking clothes off. And yeah, remember to smile and make eye contact!

Display your body from all angles, like posing, but keep moving - arch your back, run your hands along your body and through your hair. And of course what everyone said, especially eye contact!

your attitude is everything. guys don't care if you "look new" as long as your smiling and look egar to have fun. just don't try anything you aren't comfortable with and you'll look fine. the only new girls i've seen make asses of themselves are the ones that try to overcompensate for being new. just have fun with it and don't try too hard to "impress" people.

if there is a wall/mirror or anything...face it and put your hands upon it and just arch your back and sway your hips from side to side...it's good for balance and stuff. and yes, dance very slowly. im a new dancer and i have learned alot so far. good luck.
