The majority of burly-q costumes that I have seen have been made by a costume-er so you need to find someone who makes these types and more type of costumes. I'm lucky, I found my 1920s Showgirl (burlesque) costume via ebay. All it required was some padding in the bra ... and to take the skirt up a bit as the length is too long for a shortie like me.

It might be fun to be a naughty bride. Start out all innocent to the wedding march, sync in the minister saying "you are now man and wife" and then cue the saucy music where you become naughty and nothing like your pre married self. And you could easily come up with some great looking costumes, either with a modified thrift store wedding gown or something else.

Okay, this website is insanely overpriced. This Leg Avenue dress shouldn't sell for over $18 (I know, I've bought a couple and it's usually about $15) and they have it listed at $49.95? Oy. You have to be able to find a better deal on that crystal clothing as well.

^^^ That website, OMG! Not only are they selling it for $49.95, they say the retail price is $100! $100 for a fishnet minidress?! Who the hell do they think they're kidding?

Hot glue gun, premade bras and panties, a sewing machine and the trims and notions section of the fabric store, and you imagination!

I've made plenty of costumes myself. I have lots of sparkly stuff and big head dresses and sequins and stuff, but I usually start with ready to wear clothes. I made a pair of sequined chaps using a pair of regular old jeans. I ripped open the side seams and sewed in velcro. I cut out the butt and the front of the chaps, leaving the leg of the pant and the waistband. I covered the leg parts with red sequined fabric, sewed in white fringe and used a 1.5" thick trim to cover the outside seam and make it look pretty. It probably took me 2 hours after purchasing everything I needed.

If you can cut shapes out of paper, you can make your own costumes.

Now, if those darn ostrich feathers weren't so expensive!! I toyed with the idea of making my own feather fans. Yeah, right! I buy the dumb things cheaper than I can make them. It would run me about $500 a fan to make them, and I have found them online for $500 a pair. Buy the feather fans here.

Also, remember discount shops that sell really plain bras and thong panties (WalMart is my favorite), get the style that is cut like so:

Then add sequins, beads, fringe, ribbons. Create matching arm garters or buy elbow length gloves and adorn in a similar fashion. Just pretend you are back in pre school and youare making those macroni pictures, but this time you are decorating your body, not a peice of construction paper.

^^ Now if only I could sew! I can't sew to save my life otherwise I would save myself a whole heap of money. I realise where my talents lie and it is not in sewing nor cooking

I tend to get-ready made items and then "doll" them up. I've a Leg Avenue harem girl/belly dancer outfit that I bought quite a few years ago that I'm getting dolled up. Same with my red dress.. I'll eventually get sparkles etc added to it to make it more "showgirl" as such.

Ok I can sew, kinda. How do you get the sequins to stay on? Cant find a good glue to do it yet and I'm not sewing them on one by one.

My sewing skills aren't great. Marginal at best. If I had to make a shirt from scratch, it would definately look horrible! But costumes are fun to put together, and I use a lot of glue. This brand isn't bad, but make sure you only hand wash your costumes (and never ever put them in the dryer)

I used hot glue a lot too.

I see they now have it listed at $69.95 and "retail price" of $120. LMAO!!! Are people really dumb enough to pay $70 for a fishnet minidress??
