    Manhattan, A Couple Days?

I'm going to be in Manhattan for a few days in late July. Any idea where I could work maybe two or three days and make some money? I've never been to New York so I'm most concerned with safety... actually, a day shift would be just fine by me if there's some money in it. Either topless or nude works for me. I doubt I could get into PEC and I don't want to buy a whole new wardrobe for Scores, so do y'all have other suggestions?

Daytime? Well, you don't have many choices since PEC, Scores and Hustler are closed during the day. Try Flashdancers or Ricks Cabaret, both clubs have day shifts from 12-8pm

Hey, thanks! I've heard of Rick's. I don't HAVE to work a day shift, I just think I'd feel safer since I don't know the area if I didn't have to find my way back to the hotel at 3 a.m., you know?

Night shifts run from 8pm-4am, and are much busier so you'll make more money. I usually take a taxi home, from NYC to Brooklyn, door-to-door. It's very safe. If you're taking a taxi and you're staying in NYC, it would most likely cost you $10 or less?

Well, it's the safety thing and plus my boyfriend is working in the daytime. We haven't seen each other for two months, so I'd like to spend evenings with him. How much would I stand to make on a dayshift, do you think?

Maybe I'll just enjoy my vacation. I just thought it would be nice to work a day or two and pick up some spending money.

You live in LA? What are you worried about? This city is no more dangerous than any other major city in the USA. There's absolutely nothing to fear? I don't understand your concerns? The NYPD claims that you have a better chance of a soda vending machine falling on you, than getting robbed or raped in New York? You can always stay indoors and just enjoy your boyfriend's company? I can't guess how much you'll make on a day shift without seeing a picture. If you're gorgeous, with a killer body and personality? I'm sure you can make $300-$800 on a day shift? It depends? Keep in mind, this is the summer slow season....

If I offended you, it was not my intention. I apologize. I always get a little nervous when I travel, especially when it's somewhere I've never been, and big cities in particular intimidate me. It took me awhile to get used to L.A. too. I'll get over it and have a wonderful time, I'm sure.

You'll love NYC. I'm there all the time! Don't be nervous at all. I'll bet anything that you'll be used to it in no time.

I used to work in the same area as Rick's and they get pretty busy during afterwork hours because of it's proximity to the trains taking Manhattan guys home to NJ/LI/CT.

I think it was a good idea to open up a club in that area because all of the foot traffic around the mall and Macy's. I've never been inside the club though.

Ha ha... one of my favorite stories about my mother is when she went to Brooklyn with a college friend to visit the friend's family. They went into Manhattan and when they climbed up to the sidewalk from the subway station, my mom looked around at all the high skyscrapers and, in her incredibly thick Springeresque Southern drawl, exclaimed, "Goll-lleee!" Her friend told everyone she sounded like Gomer Pyle. My mom hates that story.

My other favorite was when we were in a restaurant in Pennsylvania when I was about nine, and I didn't recognize anything on my plate. My mom leaned across the table - again with her very thick Southern drawl - and said (a little too loudly), "You're eatin' YANKEE food now!" Everyone in the restaurant stopped talking and stared at her. It was great!

^^^HEHEHE, I like that. Anyway, you're coming to NY? Yay! I don't know too much about the clubs during the daytime, so I can't offer any advice. But, you have no reason to worry. IMO, I would rather be in Manhattan at night than in any other borough. Whether or not you work, you'll have a great time.

Hmm most of Staten Island maybe safer than Manhattan lol.

But I agree with you. I've walked all over midtown all hours of the night coming from friends houses and parties.

Nope, not offended at all. I guess because I lived here my entire life, I'm not sensitive to tourist's concerns over safety. I walk down the streets at all different hours, 3am, 4am, 5am, etc. There are always people out and about in this city, it truly never sleeps. The most annoying thing about the city? Are the beggars? People will always try to stop you and ask you, "do you have a dollar, or a quarter", "Can you help me, I'm lost and I don't have money to make a phone call", or, "I don't have money to get on a train, can you help me". People will always try to stop you on the streets - just keep walkin!!!

Sounds like Hollywood, DeeJay. Actually, the reason everyone tells me I'd like New York is that the few parts of Los Angeles that I actually like are the parts that are similar to New York. When I talk about why I love Hollywood, everyone always rolls his eyes and goes, "You should move to New York."

Glad to hear I should be safe. I know, it's weird, but I actually feel safer in Los Angeles than back home in Memphis. I was mugged twice in Memphis and once in New Orleans, but I walk around Hollywood at three a.m. without fear. (Of course I'm alert and cautious, but not afraid.) Thanks for pointing that out!

On the subject of ny clubs, im wondering how height factors into a girl's chances? i'm hoping to move to nyc in september and would like to get a job at one of the more upscale clubs. i'm only about 5'1, but i have a tight little body and a very pretty face. can you get into any of the upscale clubs without being tall?

I'm here to make money. NOT make friends, if I make a friend then it's a bonus.

I'd rather be absolutely ridiculous that absolutely boring
