cruise???
ha! I didn't think anyone would remember....it sucks to be home, but I did get a little homesick. I saw a car in Greece that I fell in love with and realized it's available for a limited time in the US and I'm almost about to buy one (Lotus Elise). What an expensive vacation!
it was awesome! Here's me in Ephesus (Turkey)

Emily!! What did you do to that building?!![]()
"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"
w00t w00t she's back! Nice pic too![]()
I believe you Dottie and you have my support

The heck with Turkey I'm looking at the Fox. Actually that is a good pic thanks for sharing .

I love that car! My best friend decided to come home for college instead of going to her fancy $45K/year private school and her dad decided he'd buy a Lotus instead. LOVE IT!
I'm glad you had a good time, but welcome back!

I'm glad you had a great time!! Awesome pics!!
I also like this picture. It's toilet in Istanbul (at a museum that charges admission, so it's not like we're talking a community park or something.)
I resisted using it for a long time, but I finally couldn't hold it any longer. And it was so stinky in there, but I suffered a little longer to snap a picture. And this is common there. urinals for women? How vile. And there is no flush (hence the bucket) and god forbid your legs aren't strong enough and you have to hold on to the walls. UGH!![]()
:gag:
OMG, that looks like something a gas station here would use. I wonder if Britney Spears would still go into the bathroom barefoot in Turkey. LOL

OMG! That bathroom is scary!
Glad you had a good time!![]()
Oh god that bathroom may give me nightmares..
Ah, squatters...the worst part is touching the bucket. :barf:

I take it that the bathroom was not handi-accessible.
Call me an idoit if you like but i would not of understood how to use that bathroom thats a nightmare yuck. Glad you had a great time on your vacation.

Makes you wish (appreciate) you had a plastic porta-pottie doesnt it .
I was half-way considering peeing in the courtyard behind a tree, but it was an old church. I'm sure I would have broken some kind of law and ended up in a Turkish prison. I bet the toilets there are worse!
I know that in some Asian countries they have the same setup, with actual footprints molded into the base so you know where to squat!
Emily, I hadn't realized you were on a trip - but I had actually been wondering why you weren't around lately! Durrr. I'm a little slow . . . I'll be leaving for a Mediterranean cruise (family trip) to Italy and Greece myself next week! Any tips? Pointers? (Other than bathroom avoidance?)

oh, the bathroom issue is a toughie....
I mean, you go out all day in the hot sun, you have to drink water. You have to choose between dehydration and public bathrooms. I actually did choose dehydration in a couple of places and felt so sick at night that I couldn't get out of bed for dinner. So, I guess the best thing with the bathrooms is just make sure you kow where the good ones are before you get off the ship and plan accordingly.
Hrm, what ports are you going to?
I was in Venice. At first I wanted to resist doing things that were too touristy beause they are ridiculously expensive to the point where I jsut wanted to boycott them. I mean, a 20 minute gondola ride is 80 Euros (about $100). And you have to pay extra if you want him to sing. But then I realized if I had gone to Venice and didn't do it, then what was the point of being there? I'm still glad I refused to have a bellini at Harry's Bar.
I would not expect to get any good deals on shopping anywhere. The Euro is so strong and luxury brands are less in the US. Greece is beautiful. Hopefully you stop in Santorini. It's gorgeous. I can appreciate ancient ruins, but after awhile I was thinking "arg, not another column!"
Also, the shore excursions on the ship are not really necesssary in the ports that are museum or archealogical site type places. You can just do it yourself and hire a guide there or listen to one of the million other tours already going on. The ship probably already has arrangements with a shuttle service that takes you to/from the major sites. Like in Athens there was a free shuttle to the Acoroplis and in Turkey there was one to the Blue Mosque/Grand Bazaar area.
that's all I can think of at the moment.
