    Default Enron

Did anyone notice that 'Kenny-Boy' has passed away?

Don't get me wrong, I have no ill will for the guy, but I bet all those investors (and staff!) who suffered at the hands of his company feel a little cheated that he didn't get to sentencing.

I haven't seen anywhere what he died of though. Has anyone seen it in a news item?

    Fright I guess.

He died of a massive heart attack.

One of his ex-employees who lost 1.5 million dollars was asked in an interview if he plans to sue the estate. He said well where ever my money is I still want it back.

I thought it was just effen moronic that Ken Lays wife was crying about selling all of her possessions and her houses because they "couldn't afford" them anymore. Boo-fucking-hoo. How about all of the people the robbed and the families who were completely and totally bankrupted?

Greedy, it's not even the right caliber of word to describe Ken Lay, his wife, and his henchmen...but I guess it will do.

I think they should be made to have an open casket and allow all of the people he ass raped to give a "punch farewell". heh

I think that every single person should also sue the estate. His wife thinks she's destitute now...wait till the lawsuit is over.

Speaking of Ken Lay & his wife, has some hysterical doctored pics of them on the comment strings for all Ken Lay links. I won't spoil the fun, check it out for yourselves.

A massive heart attack ... when he met his new 'cell mate'.

It wouldn't be a shock to see someone sue the estate as a test case. If they won, who knows where that could end for all the directors.

There is no test case about it - the estate will be sued. CNBC was saying they found 9,000,000.00 hidden away in assets so they/she ain't that poor as they were said to be. His wife had better figure out how to live on food stamps.

Not sure if the link will work. It is a video going over whether the estate can be sued. It points out that without a conviction it would be hard to sue the estate.

Only 9 million hidden away? What was he playing at. Anyone worth their salt would have got ten times that much. Amateur.

The 'Good News?' Given the huge number of plaintiffs/suits already actively engaged in the pursuit of Lay's money and the virtually 360 degree coverage of their angles of attack, no matter how well the money's been hidden and/or legitimately (legally) exempted from seizure there's one thing for certain: Lay's wife/family won't walk away with it, ''cause if nothing else the sheer number of wolves (lawyers) at the door will eventually bleed it all mout of her - in the form of legal fees, if nothing else!

The 'Bad News?' Given the nature/dollar-value of the claims being pursued by a handfull of the referenced plaintiffs/suits, in all likelihood (and, as has been the case from the very beginning), the individuals that were arguably most severely victimized will never see a dime from Lay's Estate, no matter how much there is or how thoroughly it's bled... to begin with, DOJ has a $43.5M forfeiture claim pending and his attorneys are owed millions - and both claims will likely prime the basic civil suits; after that, there are shareholder deriviative actions, bank claims based on fraud, etc., etc., etc., and most, if not damned near all of same will also likely prime the basic civil suits.

Enron helped foster the excessive pay for performance "peer rating" employee appraisal and assessment policy. Translation massive fraud and corruption for "those who aren't on the team with us." Those employees with some ethics "just didn't get it." They were rated 2's (head em up, move em out rating) or 1's with an immediate dismissal.

Yes, the peer review 360 degree human relations rating system is something that Enron has fostered and helped develop, and lives on in corporate American and starting in government as well.

Enron has other firsts. In the 1990's they were around the first to do away with defined benefit employee pensions, and create "cash balance" and 401 k defined contribution pensions. Employees were "encouraged" (read that forced) to invest all their money in company stock to show their commitment to the company.

When a company goes bankruptct the stock value be definition goes to zero. (Zero equity).

Result no 401 k annuity!!! Happy retirement.

Those in California should certainly remember the misery caused to the poor and nursing home seniors with the Enron enduced power blackouts in 1999 2000 and 2001.

The deaths caused by these Enron blackouts should be criminal investigations not civil.
I believe the Statue of limitations has not expired and many of the traders could still be put away for a long long time. Perhaps they will see fit to join their master of the dark side Kenny boy and fade away before their prison time. (Who's the sucker now traitors? I mean traders.)

I agree that the Governor at the time Grey Davis was an ineffectual political boob, but
he was vaguely honest and you California voters threw him out for Arnold.

I'm looking forward to more prosecutions of the trading desk followed by some results like Kenny Boys. AFter all we are only wishing on you what you wished on the electric power consumers of California.
