    Default handicap customer!

so i was at work and when it came time for 2 for 1, this guy in a wheelchair basically yelled across the whole club (very very loudly) for me to come over there and dance for him. i was already embarassed but i wasnt gonna say anything because he is handicap. his speach isnt good at all and he has some sort of brain problem, and he is in a wheelchair...so i didnt wanna turn him down.

so, i start dancing for him, and he just starts laughing soooo loud, it was drawing attention from everyone in the club. he couldnt help it though, so i wasnt mean about it...i tried to talk to him to calm him down. i think he just liked how i was dancing and that was his reaction or something. then he kept trieng to grab at me alot, so i ended up having to stand 2 feet away and making sure not to do anything too sexy, like bending over or something. but the main thing was how loud he was! i mean it sounded like he was yelling!!!

im the type who dont really like that kind of attention drawn to me. but, im also not the type to turn someone down because they are handicap. i feel bad for even being embarassed because of this but i was!

for future reference, how would some of u have handled this?

I would have handled it just like I typically would for a custy that wasn't handicapped. If he was being obnoxious and/or touchy while I was dancing I would warn him. If he continued his shit then I would stop the dance.

I have no idea how I would've dealt with that!
I've danced for physically handicapped men (one who was paralyzed from the waist down, yep, he was so cool though!) and one mentally handicapped, luckily he was a sweetheart & obeyed the rules.

Kudos to you for handling it so well.

the laughing was probably a brain "miss-fire". some handicaps cause involuntary sounds or movements.

I think if he is aware enough of his surroundings to ask you for dance, then he should be aware enough to respect the rules so I would have said no touching and stopped the dance if he continued. Even someone who is mentally handicapped can understand a shake of the head and "no touching or I stop"

Just because he's handicapped doesn't mean he can't also be an asshole. I'd have treated him like I would have treated any other obnoxious asshole - follow the rules, or I stop dancing.

I once had a custmer that was deaf and he came in with a freind. I was super poilte and sweet and i got a dance and a ten dollar tip from the guys friend he put it in a one a gave it me as they left i took it as a complement. But this sitution can feel akward i agree with what someothers have said that just becuse he is handicaped dose not make him any differnt when it comes to the rules. I bet some use it to there advantage becuse they know they will get special treatment. That mean to say but i think its probaly true.

Lol- my brother is in a wheelchair, he is a quadriplegic and I could not have put this any better. I hang out with a lot of handicapp guys because he goes to a gym geared for handicap patrons.
The loudness or laughing might have been from the handicap- a tramatic brain injury for example. But no matter what the handicap they can understand not to touch. I hate to say it, but some handicapped persons will use the handicap to try to get away with things they know better than to do. I agree, treat him like anyone else that won't stop grabbing.
My brother is in a manual chair, but he and the guys he plays sports with have gone to clubs and they will roll the dancers around in the laps. They can be a blast.
Oh, and if you have questions feel free to ask. Both my brother and I are the type to answer anything- so if I don't already know the answer I'll ask him.

There are a few disabled guys that come into our club.

One is severely physically disabled but 'inside' he's like everyone else. It can be hard to understand what he's saying sometimes, but he always really appreciates a chat and will buy girls drinks and dances freely. Some girls have refused him dances in the past and said things like 'I dont dance for spastics', and it has really hurt his feelings. After all, his money's as good as anybody elses! He appreciated a friends' attention so much he came back this week with some beautiful jewelery as a gift.

I have another customer with some kind of mental disability (seems like tourettes or something) who is completely fine in a personal dance, though somewhat loud (so you have to be mindful of where you take him for the dance). He would never dream of touching me, just likes to whoop and talk to himself for the whole dance.

So you never know. Like any customer, a customer with disabilities can behave, or misbehave. I have more trouble with my english speaking, fully able customers than I ever have with physically or mentally handicapped ones.

Was he retarded? I'm mixed about the retarded issue - like in some ways I don't feel good about taking their money, but they have urges and interests and sexuality too, right? If he was retarded, he likely can't help it. You can tell him to quiet down, and tell him to have the waitress to get you rather than yell at you. See if he remembers and implements.

If he is not retarded and just talk and sounds funny (interesting there was a guy like that in my club last night. The girls were terrified of him. Honestly, I would have been too, but he was with another guy and I was talking to him for a while. He was fine, he just had an "accent") then you can just tell him, and he will control his volume the best he can. I think some kinds of CP interfere with that kind of thing.
