    Default Favorite dance classes?

    Hello Ladies,

Does anyone have any favorite dance classes they take to stay in shape, for fun etc? (That also may incidently aid in your routine)

My friend has been trying to get me to go to her belly dancing classes...for some reason it just doesn't really appeal to me.

Some friends of mine took a belly dance class and the instructor said degrading things about exotic dancers. I didn't think that was cool at all, especially considering that it is essentially the same thing. That turned me off of it. I guess I shouldn't let it, but I don't care to be insulted.

I used to do Tahitian dance. Out of all the forms of dance I did, tahitian and hula was my favorite. Your hips will swivel like they're on ball bearings if you practice it enough.

I've done all sorts of dance classes both in my youth and a year or two ago however the classes (or dance) that I would like to take if I had the money are Belly Dancing, Tahitian or Hula Dance, Latin American dancing and Burlesque. What can I say? I love to dance! Just wish I could afford the time and money for the classes as alot of them run on "popular" work nights *sigh*

My favorite was always hip-hop, but I guess that's because it was so different from anything else I'd done before (ballet, jazz, etc.).

Oh man I always wanted to learn hip hop.

I used to belly dance in high school. I thought it was fun. I was in a troupe and we'd perform. I liked the revealing costumes and all the super suggestive moves . Stripping pays better.

And a year or so ago I enrolled in this hip hop class. I have absolutely no experience and I get there and of course it is a room full of like 16 year olds who pick up all the moves just effortlessly - oh and this six year old kid who was basically this little Michael Jackson. I felt like old clumsy white lady. It was terrible.

I guess I'll have to satisfy my dream by watching the movie Honey over and over and dancing around my house to Justin Timberlake

^ It can be learned, though! I was always the one that did the "white girl dance."

Once it feels more natural it's pretty easy to learn. It just takes time...a lot of time!

That'd be fun. I just feel so stupid around such young (and coordinated) kids! But going with someone would be great. Is it in Vancouver? It'd be fine if it was. For some reason I never can find any classes. I took the one through PCC.

That's one of my lines for dancers like this, "She's got ball bearings for hips, and by god she knows how to use them..."

But it has to be true, of course, lol.

Sounds very cool to me, I have worked with lots of women who have had lots of different dance backgrounds, and I can always tell--though guessing whether it was ballet, jazz, modern, or a combination can get tricky.

Only worked with a couple who have had belly dancing, and never a tahitian or hula girl--that would be great fun, I would love it!
