    Default New Model

OK, I've been doing a lot of searching, but to no avail. I'm getting into modelling recently. I set up a profile at OMP and Im getting a lot of offers. With all the corrupt photogs though, Id like to know what kinds of questions you other models ask to photogs for safety reasons and what red flags I should look for.
    Thanks guys for any help.

I always shoot an email to women they list as having worked with. Thats my #1. I tend to turn away ones who wanna shoot at my place, or need me to suggest a location.

I also tend to not do studio work with the photographer until we have done a test shoot/TFCD together at an outdoor location. If I can't work with him fully clothed (as such) outside then I doubt it will change in re: studio work.

As for references, both modeling and other photographers, and ask for other samples of work, as in any online portfolios that he has or any other samples he'd like to share.

Ask for the specific concepts that he has in mind to shoot, the costuming and location for those concepts, and what type of files he shoots (jpg, raw, whatever).

Ask what he intends to use the photos for.

Ask if an MUA or stylist will be provided, what you need to bring along, and if this will be in a studio or somewhere else (which ties into the location question).

If its your first modeling gig and they make an offer how do u bring up getting paid? The guy that wants to shoot me is switching from scenic photography and im a new model so should I just do the first for experience and not money?

    ^^Depends on what youre doing.
A good rule of thumb is: (not including any type of nudes)
*If the shooter is more experienced than you - then you shoot tfp/cd
*If you have more experience than the shooter - you can ask for money
*If you are both on the same level or have something to contribute to both portfolios (or just yours) then you shoot Tfp/cd

As an amature model you can charge for nudes at any level.

What Tiger said. In addition, it's perfectly appropriate for a new model to pay a polished professional for portfolio shots, but that's a whole different deal entirely. In this case, he hasn't done portfolio shots, and a trade seems appropriate and mutually beneficial.

I've known of a hobby guy who did TFCD, even including nude, for models getting started. The conditions to negotiate as part of the trade are up to you and the shooter.

    Red flags:
If they want to shoot at your house.
If they refuse to give references.
If there is not release form for the pictures youll be taking.
Ask you to do "extra" work
Want you to do more than what you are comfortable with
    Want to film you
Wont meet you in person before the shoot
Wont show you more of their work
Ones that wont answer your questions - more like avoids them.
