Default is it music or apperance?

how many think that it isnt nessacerley the dancers apperance but the music she is dancing to that makes her tips while on stage.....

I have been working at the emerald club in knoxville and i have noticed that the girls who dance to metal or rap make kick ass tips on stage while other music don't do as well. just something ive noticed.

I think it helps... but it isnt the end all of why we make tips. I see who tis to what music... and yeah, it does develop into a pattern.

It has to be a combo. If a goth looking pierced and tattooed dancer decides to dance to Garth Brooks, the combo will look odd. She can mix up her music a bit to appeal to a "country western" crowd, though. Usually Guns and Roses or AC/DC would appeal to the same group w/o being in complete contrast with the dancer's appearance.

In some instances I think that the music will enliven the crowd, reguardless of who is dancing at the moment. Last night is a perfect example of this. Most of the dancers were dancing to Hip-hop and rap. I danced to some classic rock and house came alive. I made $77 on one stage set. I don't really think that the guys cared much who was on stage, but since the majority of our customers were over 40 last night, the music changed their mood instantly.

Sometimes I get discouraged when I'm not tipped onstage and I think that some girls get more love with alot less effort. I have even gone so far as to completely change the genre of music I dance to and you know what...

In the long run it really didn't matter, there are so many inconsistent factors that come into play with guys tipping or not. Sometimes it's the crowd, the time of day, the amount of dancers per shift, the musical variety, and so on and so forth.

The only thing I can control is myself. So, I make sure each time I'm onstage to give it my all, but never expect a tip. That way, when I am tipped there's a genuine look of surprise and appreciation on my face, which makes the customer even happier they came by.

Paris is right. You need to size up the crowd if you are working in a club where guys tip well on stage. The DJ makes a difference big time also. If he is not a jivey pumped up type of guy who is constantly making the crowd feel obligated to tip, that can affect your money too.

If you have too many rednecks in the crowd, hip hop music won't work. Conversely, if the crowd is more mixed race and twentyish, songs such as Ms. New Booty, or Grillz should do well. If the crowd is a mixture of all types, a classic R&B song, a classic Rock song, and a hip hop song may be a good blend for a 3 song set.

I have huge music issues with my work. We do not have a dj and some of the cds which get played are absolutly moronic choices!!! Unfortunatly where I work there it is not uncommon for 1 cd to be played over and over and over for the whole night.

Where I work I have noticed that if R&B gets played for more than about 20 minutes people start to leave. They dont tip too much either if at all. R&B makes people layed back, sleepy and bored. The dancers who like R&B dont do any better than those of us who dont, so R&B is a loose loose situation IMO.

Some fool bought in a heap of Samba style cds to work and these do not work for us either. That's no surprise, they are bloody awful and almost down with R&B when it comes to killing it for us on stage. Very few dancers can dance to it also.

    A little Hip-hop works.

And rock / metal / alternative - yep definatly!

Dance music works really well at my club. Alot of our customers are young pilling off their heads and in party mode. Techno seems to keep the mood alive and smiles on faces and generally speaking the crowd will stay longer and tip more if it's played.

I make a point to get the music changed now before I do my podiums because I know I make more when techno or my choice of music is playing. I still dance well to any form of music so it's definatly the music!

Well for me I only really notice the music if I find it annoying. But even with that I will come up and tip based on the girl. If she is putting forth the effort or looks to be having fun with the time up there even if no one is around then to me that is what will get me up to the stage to tip.

Its sad that alot of dancers dont take the time to look at the crowd and try to base their music choice on customer demographics... Dancing to what we want for us only isnt going to make us money. We cant tip ourselves, afterall... its about entertaining the customers...

^^^ Yes I totally agree with Paige too, but music definatly helps work with peoples moods, especailly when so many dancers cant dance and dont interact well with the crowd!

Music helps somewhat. You should check out the crowd before you dance to something. I try not to dance to so much scary death metal, if the crowd is older. My tips have been sucking lately regardless, so right now I'm saying fuck it.

The energy the music makes combined with the energy the girl makes work together to get the customer excited. People spend money when they are in a good mood. If a good song is on and the girl on stage is "on" then she will most likely make the flow.

I stopped dancing to really slow stuff because I've found I've made more tips with faster music. Some music is better than others depending on the crowd, but I don't usually take the time to go to the dj booth before every set... I just let him play stuff from my folder.

I think music has less to do with it than you'd think. The place I work at really doesn't play good music at all and you don't get to pick your sets. I find it hard to dance to some of the stuff, but I'm still making good tips on stage.

its not all music but then again it is and with that i say play what your comfortable with. I do agree with everyone that has said that too much of one kind of music and the crowd gets board. Hell you think about it and we get board too. I try to mix all different types of music into a set. country, metal, rap, techno. and so on that works for me gets their attention after r & b has been playing for a period of time.

That often depends on the club/area. In dixieland alot of times a girl who dances to country or southern rock gets tipped well. In some places, girls who dance to rap get tipped well. In others, it's those who dance to metal, or whatever.

But if the girl has a good enough stage presence, she'll get tipped at least fairly well just based on her looks/performance. I tend to play stuff that's rather different from what everyone else is playing (until it gets stolen/copied ), and I tend to do pretty well on stage.
