omg i was watching E yesterday and they had a speical on women who fall in love with prisoners and i was shocked to say they least. They have website where the inmates can make an ad and people write to them. I would never do this becuse i don't that person looking at me to help them when they get out. I think it would be very scary and dangrous situtation. What do you guyst think try this like to see what i am talking about www.inmate-connection.com

I think it's sad. Sad that they have drug problems/issues --> commit crimes --> imprisonment, sad that they become even more fucked up while in there, sad that there are women who are attracted to a convicted felon stranger.

I mean, I know my fair share of people who have done time, but to seek out some strange con? wow...

I was curious about this from reading the original post, and found one link on a search engine, which while it is partially about writing to both men and women inmates, has some pretty heavy-duty sites to which it links

    http://www.cellpals.com/index1.html

and a link from this site to an experiment done years ago at Standford University, about which I saw at least one segment on "60 Minutes," a few years ago. The link describes the experiment via a slide show and some RA video clips. I only went through the slideshow, which poses some interesting questions about prison systems in general

    http://www.prisonexp.org/

One of my friends has actually done this in the past, but she wasn't looking for a bf, but rather was quite interested in prison reform.

I read through the women that were on the site. There were far too many men for me to even attempt to go through.

But the one that shocked me the most was the 19 year old that got 3 years for prositution..how the fuck?

3 years seems a bit steep for that sorta crime. And she's 19., so it's like... how much of an adult rap sheet could have possibly gotten that got her 3 years. I know I have read many sites that show street walkers, and such and they are like 40 arrests deep...and are always released.

Makes me curious though on her case.

I have seen those sites where inmates make personal ads and I swear they all "didn't do it"!!!! Damn, I can't imagine being desperate enough to date a guy on a life sentence in prison!

That's b.s. They shouldn't get those kind of privileges...they are serving time for a reason, you know.

The one that kind of made me sad is the woman who was given life because her abusive BF scared her into helping him hide a body. I know there has to be more to it but its still sad...

I read that one too. She, along with several other battered women, is appealing for clemency for her "crime." This site is sad: http://www.umich.edu/~clemency/

I recently read an article (and for the life of me I can't remember where *ugh*) about women who are *down* for their man and basically take the rap for the man's crimes...almost always some drug related crime. They remain silent and take the fall for a crime for which they're not responsible. All in the name of "love." THAT is sad. Their lives are completely ruined. I've been trying to remember for the past day where I read that and I just can't remember. It's actually becoming a rather large trend.

Its not just love. These men put the fear of their lives, their families lives etc into them. They will threaten to kill their famies.. so they feel they have to take the rap for it. Its really sad...

true. But whether they're scared or supposedly in love, they feel a certain sense of pride in being a "down ass bitch" Gives them some sort of street cred.

I was referring to the mysterious article that I can't remember the name of...In any event, many of these women are mistaking fear for love.

Because their men make them think they love them and cant live without them. Its amazing what an abusive relationship can do to a person.

God, isn't that the truth I mean, I'm all for personal responsiblility and all, but it's truly amazing how abuse can just break a person and make them think in twisted ways

You see, drugs are produced/distributed by some very aggressive, desperate people who often do violent, terrorist-like things even to innocents. So maybe you have not encountered directly their violent activities, so you just don't know or are naive. Users are in jail because they promote and support, however indirectly they feel, those desperadoes. It's like people who possess child porn but don't produce it, in that laws are made to protect innocent people (here, kids) who produce the demand. Yes, drug users may well be unfortunate people, but they are also indirect promoters of crimes. Yes, I know if drugs were not illegal people would maybe not be hurt by criminals, only the drugs themselves. Theoretically. Look at alcohol - distribution is not illegal, just controlled. Still many problems are caused by alcohol abusers, not to just themselves.

What I'm really saying overall is... There is Not all that much different from befriending a convict to befrielding someone who should or probably will become one soon enough because of behavior problems. It's just a matter of time to your disappointment/trouble if your man excites you because he has/is/does antisocial, rebellious, or otherwise abusive activities. And this is durned common.

I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

Actually, I used to write to about 30 prisoners in the US. Not with the idea of forming relationships, just because I used to like to write alot. I lost contact with most of them after the internet became popular, but I still keep in touch with a couple of them and consider them good friends.
I have enough friends here who have been in jail, Im hardly scared of people just becaue they've been in prison.

I used to write to convicts too, and also had convict friends in person.
