    Default Sore legs

I worked after my audtion Thursday for a full shift. The tops of my thighs are extremely sore. I rode my bicycle for about 40 minutes last night trying to get them loosened up. (It really helped) I'm supposed to work tonight and tomorrow. Will the soreness ease up tonight or will it just get worse? My only fear is that they will hurt worse and I won't be able to work? I really like this club and don't want them to think I'm a wimp, ha ha! It doesn't help that all I do at my regular job is sit in a chair all day. Every time I go to the bathroom I do stretches and squats but when I sit down for even 20-30 minutes when I start to get up my legs are incredibly stiff.

I'm also worried about floor work. There is a black expo going on in town this weekend so they have got a lot of girls working. I was told there will 2 girls on their 1 stage all night tonight. So I won't be able to stay attached to the pole tonight like I did Thursday. I want to do floor work, but when I get on the floor I feel like I don't know what to do. I feel like a fish out of water. Any advice or suggestions?

    Thanks
    Amanda

That's good that your legs get stiff.. it shows that your muscles in your leg is working

I'm hurting real bad myself.. My thighs, my wrists, my arms, my stomach.. everything on me sores after 2 auditions the same day. Haha i actually called my buddy who is a fitness trainer, and he mentions about when your body is sore.. it means you did damage to your muscles BUT in a good way.. and the more and more your body sores afterwards, the stronger your muscles will get to the point where they won't sore anymore..

Its always nice to do a warmup before you go on stage, so that you don't pull any muscles to the extent where you cant walk.. before i go on the pole, i usually move my ankles around in circles as well as my wrists.. and do a big long stretch afterwards and repeat the process.. just whatever it takes for my body to not sore as bad..

also if you need to take your shoes off and stretch again, do so..

Just the pains of being a new dancer. The pain will go away soon.
Soak in a tub of epsom salts for less than 20 minutes. I heard bannanas help with sore muscles?
I take arnica tabs when I start a new place until my body gets used to the bruising and soreness.

Wow, you went on the exercise bike for 40 minutes AFTER getting sore from the night before? It may have loosened stiff muscles, but if you're too sore to work you really need to give your legs a break from aerobic and strength training activity between nights dancing.

Do some stretching, take warm baths, put icy-hot on them, take some pain killers - but do not keep working them hard with lunges and serious aerobic activity! You want to let the muscles rebuild and store glycose/glycogen (whatever it's called, I'm not a med student, it's the sort of readily accessable sugar your body stores in your muscles and the higher your levels are the more energy you can spend before exhausting your muscles and hurting yourself) on your days off, and if you work out just to loosen them up they will remain weak and sore.

If you're afraid of dancing with sore muscles, just work on moving slowly and sexily and doing floor work, etc. Avoid crouching or squatting any more than necessary

It's just like going back to the gym after a vacation - it hurts like heck for the first week or two but after that your body will figure out what to do!

    Good luck!

It's glycogen -- it's long sugar chains that get stored in your liver and muscles during rest and broken down for quick energy when you're working.

Next time you want to loosen up your muscles after a hard night, why not just go on a walk? Like people have already said, sore muscles mean that you've actually damaged your muscles (you've torn some of the muscle fibers!). Give yourself a break, just do a walk or some more energetic stretching to get your muscles loosened up, then stretch stretch stretch; that's what I try and do when my muscles are really sore. Arnica tabs and creams work really well for some people. I try to make sure and get plenty of protein if my muscles are sore to help everything build itself back up (beans and rice, beans and corn, soy, chicken, fish -- lean protein is easier for your body to digest). And bananas are good for replacing potassium you may have lost and staving off charley horses. Also be sure to get some salt into you if you sweated a bunch.

It will definitely get better, though you'll always hurt a little after a really long night (like those awesome nights when you're just doing lapdance after lapdance after lapdance). Just be sure to give yourself the rest that you need so that you can heal up properly.

I'm working out to try to join the military and muscle soreness is a daily thing with me... I use Glutamine (supplement) after my workouts, it helps heal the muscles quicker... It's pricey here in Canada, but I believe it works.

Maybe use some icy hot... JUST MAKE SURE YOU WASH YOUR HANDS all the way or else it can get into weird places.

If you're getting sore, do not do squats. You'll just make it worse.
