I have never done pole tricks in my 4 years of dancing. I haven't noticed my money being any less than girls who do pole tricks. I am scared of the pole....

I notice pole tricks for sure. To me a good stage show is half of a dance from me. The girl who has a good routine is going to have a much easier sell to get me to buy a dance. Not that pole tricks are the only thing but watching a girl doing the tricks and when I think "Wow, I'd have had to have gone to the ER if I tried that" impresses me.

i do them for me more than for the customers. i don't think doing them or not doing them makes you more or less money in the long run. one girl i work with never does pole tricks, has been dancing for 9 years, and is the top earner on my shift. i'm one of the top earners and i do pole work. mostly i do them because they keep me interested in my job and give me something to work on. not to mention i like the muscles i've developed from pole work.

Ditto! I wouldn't say that pole tricks will help or hinder you, it's you that makes the money. All I know is that pole work makes me happy.

it's very hard to explain pole tricks through writing, especially since everyone seems to do them a little differently.

i've learned a lot in the last 2 months, most of which i taught myself. go before the club opens and practice. learn to grip the pole. try things out. practice practice practice. watch the other and try to slow to movements down in your mind and then try to do them. if any of the girls are nice enough they may be willing to help you on a slow night. and don't think to much...just feel it out.

    good luck =)

This site has some video expanations/breakdowns.... I don't know how much it costs...

    www.verticaldance.com

But I really think pole tricks just come with time... Start off just getting comfortable on stage... Smile.... relax..... Play with your cust. while your on stage... MAKE EYE contact... Then start pulling yourself on to the pole.... The monkey climb is really easy.....

    Good luck.

I would start with just climbing all the way too the top of the pole, hang on with one hand (while gripping the pole between ur legs). with the other hand, run ur fingers through ur hair or down ur body. U need to develop upper body stregnth before u try anything "crazy". Do some pushups everyday, make sure u warm those muscles up!!!! Dont give up!!!!!!

Climbing the pole is one of the easiest things to learn, I learned how to do that before the fireman spin... watch other girls and how they do it. You do need upper body strength and leg strength..

I just tried to write it out like 10 times and I cant word it right lol. Just watch other girls where they place their hands and their feet.

there are a few ways to do it, but basically just hold on and pull yourself up...use the parts of your shoes that goes over your arch to get some extra traction and help hold yourself up. practice as much as possible and you'll gain strength quickly.

I basically use that part of my one of my feet behind the pole, cross my other foot in front of the pole so that the back of my ankle is resting agaist it, and use the traction from that to push myself up the pole. I use very little arm stregnth and, since someone was kind enough to teach me that technique, my movement is much more fluid and feline. I no longer look like the awkward skinny kid in gym class trying to climb the rope...

nice job....I like the way you climb the pole...I do it a little differently...and cheat with wearing boots too lol. Since the boots grip to the pole it's less friction on my skin and less work! But I start out the same way you do sassysummer and then I wrap my other leg around the pole in order to clamp on. (I place my left foot on the side of the pole facing me....and my right ankle locks on on the opposite side)
