Default Eat me alive, I'm a noob.

Anyways, I've been around the forum for a good... few days now. And I thought I'd just post an introduction up. My name is Morgan, I am 18 and a senior in highschool who has great interests in exotic dancing.

You could say that I am attracted to this proffession because I:
    a. Like being naked.
    b. Love dancing.
    c. Tease is my middle name, according to the male population in my school anyways.
    d. I love the hustle.
    e. Any combination of all four.

    Background Information:
I am Chinese, Vietnamese, White, and American Indian, or more simply put: Amerasian, the child of an American soldier and a woman of a warring Asian nation. My family got wealthy and moved out of my birthcity, Boston, and into a very rich suburban town, but I am in no means sheltered. I have travelled to: Mexico, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Aruba, Canada, Italy, Austria, Germany, France, China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, and quite a bit of the United States in my short 18 years of life.

    Interests:
I am captain of my school's Public Speaking and Debate team and have qualified as a national competitor in an acting event, you could say that I like to act. It'd be an understatement, but you could say it. I love dancing and have done: ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop, salsa, meringue, and a smathering of tango. I adore painting in all forms. I wish I played an instrument, or had a good voice, but have neither talent nor patience. I love video games and role play games and board games alike. I like to sew, when I'm successful. I love to cook, and have gotten pretty good at it. I LOVE to read, fantasy and sci-fi mostly. And once and a while, I like to sleep..

    Dislikes:
Biases and closed-minds, sterotypes, waffles, the smell of bugspray, homework, bad teachers, those high heels with the connected heel and sole, flip phones, using "gay" or "homo" as an insult, overly emo kids, overconfident people and egomaniacs, and limits.

I don't know what else I can say about myself.. There's really not too much, I'm not particularly "deep" infact, I'm quite shallow..

Oh and my nickname: Momomix. Well Momo is what my dad used to call me when I was little, it means peach in Japanese. And Momo mix is an artist who has some DDR (Dance Dance Revolution, it's a video game that you have to dance in) songs.

    Interesting. Welcome, Momomix.

You're only 18, are you sure that's what you want to do with your life? Or do you just need to make some extra cash?

Well, probably not with my life. But It's definitely something I feel passionate about. The cash is a plus, but not necessary.

    Welcome noob

As for wanting to start early in the business I strongly advise you to read many of the threads in Stripping General as most of them depic what we have to go through to earn so much. Also, a good place to start is the Articles section as well. Just wanting you to make the most informed decision possible. I started 3 months after I turned 18 as well and needless to say I was completely unprepared for what was coming next.

Thanks for the welcome guys! You're all so nice it makes me happy .

That being said. I know that I am young and really appreciate all the great heaping amounts of information on this site. I do know a bit of what I am getting into, I pole danced a bit in Thailand when I was 16. I know there's a difference, but I have an idea of how the business runs and look forward to joining the ranks.

    Can't wait.

Ps. All of you women are amazing.

Oh god - you're in high school and PLANNING to be a stripper? I don't suppose if I begged you reconsider you would? You sound bright and accomplished - surely you can find other more healthy outlets for yourself?

What was dancing in Thailand like?

I suppose you've selected stripping in order to have (at least just enough) time and money to put yourself through school, and then grad school, and then get a doctorate and after that advance quickly in your career to become an esteemed and accomplished member of society!

That's why I'm going to dance.

    Nice to meet you!

Well, the money to put myself through school is very good. But the main reason I want to dance is because I think I'd enjoy it. Maybe not every shift, but overall. No, it's not what I want for a permanent career and I am aiming for atleast a bachelor's degree, hopefully a master's.

Thailand, is good business for the blonde and blue eyed with clubs advertising things like "All European Girls!" But I found that, myself looking asian, attracted grabby foreigners.

    Nice to meet you too!

Granted poor lighting and cigarette butts are a small price to pay - however, really and truly dancing is not a good life. There is glamour (I mean, there is) and ego, and gratification and money - but there is also poor spending habits and a narrowing of horizons and a perfect, perfect understanding of the economic value of your sexuality that is not really at all advantageous in your life and yet will permeate your understanding of yourself, as well as a downside in public perception. If you don't need this bad, seriously - rethink (like even if you decide to do it anyway - really think about it again). There are other expressions of yourself and your sexuality you can indulge in - you sound like you are quite active in the arts community and do dance theatre and such. Maybe you indulge in that some more - and in terms of teasing the boys at your school - trust me, honey - this is NOT THE SAME. Just act out your sexuality (in whatever way you want) for free with the boys (or girls) from your school.

Heh, but that would completely betray the hustler in me. I dont want to give away what I can sell, unless it is to someone I deem worthy, and highschool boys (and girls) aren't usually in that category.

I don't feel that I am looking for "glamour". I admit, I am attracted by the gritty nature of this business, and yes I understand it is a job first and foremost like anything else. It seems, real, for lack of a better word. Call me a masochist, but I am not turned off by harsh.

Dancing on a large stage 20 feet away from the audience was nice and all, but I think you'd agree that it is very, very different.

All in all, I appreciate your concern, but I've thought this through for a while now and have pretty much reached the decision to do it.

I definitely believe that you are much, much more experienced than I am in this, so I'm going to trust your judgement. Although I think that it might be coming from someone who does this because they need to rather than they want to. And I am positive there a girls stripping who do it because they want to.

Regardless of low public perception, which I don't care for anyways because it's almost always wrong. I need to find this one out on my own. In the meantime is there any positive news you could give me about stripping that doesn't include money?

Welcome! I'm new to SW too and it has already taught me so much, even though I was already a dancer.

Just another word of warning... have you graduated HS yet? If not be prepared for the word to get around the entire school in a matter of days. Everyone is going to know and everyone 18 and up is going to go watch you. If you don't mind then more power to you!

    On to the positive side...
I have found stripping to help me a lot in the "real" world. You learn to interact with everyone and make everyone feel good. This makes you into a more approachable and friendly person that many people feel comfortable around.
Also... if you want a career in sales in the future this will help a lot. I have taken some business classes in college and have though... wow these SW girls would blow even the best students out of the water with their selling abilities. Kinda funny but true.
Anyways good luck and it seems like you're tough enough for the job!

welcome! this thread seems to have turned into a conversation about the desire to start dancing at a young age, or start dancing at all. just wanted to throw in my two cents.
i started dancing when i was 27. my best friend had been a dancer in DC for a few years, and i had always been very put off by it. we grew up together since we were 5, and i wanted better for her than to be a stripper (and this was before i had ever even been in a stripclub).
i've been dancing for 6 months now... it doesn't sound like long, but i've spent so much time reflecting on the intracacies of the job. before my girlfriend quit dancing last year, she invited me out to try it with her for a day. after that, i just started thinking about it more and more. and i needed the money too! i was so broke.
anyway, there are good parts and bad parts of this job, just like any other. it's a job that requires you to make very significant decisions; it involves having intense interations with all kinds of people, including people who won't think twice about taking great advantage of you; it tests your limits because there are constantly temptations in your face (money, drugs, alcohol, etc.). in order to make great money at stripping and keep your life together, you have to make good decisions, know what you want, and set limits for yourself. i still try to have a good time doing this job, but i won't let myself party every night i work just because i have the opportunity to.
i've gotten a lot out of stipping so far. it's great money, and if you can approach it with a pretty level head and a sensible attitude, you can meet some cool people and have a good time.

i should say that even at 28 (and i consider myself a mature person), i have met many challenges in this job that were tough to deal with. you meet so many men who are trying to convince you to do one thing or another (give them your number, give them a lapdance for $10 less, hang out after work, touch their dicks [yeah, right!], etc.) and you definitely meet some girls who, if you look at them the wrong way, will think you are their enemy. stay out of the drama, and don't be afraid to keep men in their place. most of the time the guys think it's sexy if you're a little abrassive with them, so you can use it to your advantage and get even more money from them.

above all, try to be sensible! if you are the kind of person that feels drawn towards this job, then you're probably planning on taking some risks and adventures in life anyway. at least you have plenty of great women here to consult and support you along the way!
