    Default Long gaps on resume

I know there has been a bit of discussion previously about how to deal with long gaps in your employment history due to dancing.
What I'd like to know is if anyone has had gaps longer than a few years (a length that couldn't be explained away by school, family, travel) and was able to get a "real" job anyway.

What reason did you give for the gap? What kind of job did you get? How did you approach your resume? What advice can you please give me.

I'm about to graduate and I want to start sending out resumes but I need some advice from people that have been there.

Make up something that sounds plausible and that is difficult to verify. Like if you are applying for a job in IT you might say you ran your own home based computer repair business, and had a few good clients that kept you busy for that amount of time.

If that won't fly, try saying you were an eBay merchant. Or ran a house keeping business or a dog walking service or whatever.

Just make sure it is something you could plausibly make money at, but difficult to verify. You also have to be able to talk reasonably well about the "made up" job. Don't say you worked as a seamstress out of your house if you have no clue how to sew. You potential employer may have a hobby that coincides with your "made up" job.

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!
