    Default Hardest class?

What was the hardest class you ever attempted or finished? If you survived - tell how. Was it the many gallons of coffee you drank or the fact that many time you dissapeared from the face of the earth to study for a test.

Im currently enrolled in Biology and scared outta my panties. I love science eventhough its hard.

My hardest class was Stats. It was like trying to teach me in some wierd universe where everything that was suppose to not make sense should make sense.

Fucking architecture. It was supposed to be a 100 level class, but it was run and taught like a 400 level class for arch majors! Ack! I just barely squeeked by with a D and sighed a sigh of relief.

Calculus. Believe it or not, I got an engineering major who came to my club to tutor me before the final.

Accounting, I had bloody nightmares about the ledgers being wrong and numbers chasing me. I got over it with the help of a tutor. Accounting was one of those subjects that just has to 'click', at least for me it does.

Statistics never bothered me much, but then again I deal with computers and make them do the hard work. Only thing that has bothered me is a certain boss inverting graphs, and using other visual tactics to make productivity appear better than it was.

I don't envy biology, I don't even like dissecting something, let alone vivisection. I always wanted to do chemistry and other physical sciences, but was never at a school that offered them. Ah I probablly would have blown something up anyway. (not really)

Only exam that was ever hard for me was the one for business administration. It was a gauntlet! I had to follow a series of transactions from the order being placed through to the goods being delivered. This exam took 3 hours, and even when I finished at 2h55min 97% of the class was still going. The test involved customer service essays, no multiple-choice questions, and actually doing the paper work for the whole transaction, from both sides of the transaction. I can remember putting my pen down and my hand aching. I think I actually had a date after, I vaguely remember going to the pool hall. I did pass well though.

Funny it has never been that hard in actual business.

    Statistics.

I attribute this to my complete mental paralysis with regard to numbers, aside from calculating my lapdance fees, naturally.

Sadly, I'll have to take two quantitative analysis classes if I get into my PhD program. Not looking forward to that at all.

Geometry! I had no problems with calculus or trigonometry, but for some reason geometry did not come naturally to me.

College #1: Sociology. SO boring. With a teacher like Ben Stein but Spanish. OMFG I wanted to kill him then myself. I drank so much coffee... so much. Egads. Oh the grounds that were sacrificed in the name of DULL.

College #2: Splicing. Gods damned $^@%$^%#@%[email protected]#@$ tapes... Grrr. I had to develop SUCh a steady hand.

College #3: Electronic Communications Systems II. Ugh information recovery....

I can remember having a Dirty Dog Root Beer, a coke, and some clarytine sinus medicine for a class. I was tapping out a cadence with my pen, and speed talking.

    Never took clarytine again!

Accounting. I made it through the first week and then dropped it...I still have to take it, though.

    I'm hoping I'll get a better professor...or something!

damn, if Intro Soc was your toughest course, you MUST have had a crappy prof. That was probably the easiest course I took.

No wait, I had an intro to film course that was a breeze.

    Organic chemistry.

I can still remember when I went to a gastroenterologist for terrible stomach problems (crippling pains when stressed out, seeming inability to digest anything) and I had a problem set due in a couple of days. Since the doctor was running behind, I spread out my book, notebook, and problem sheet out on that desk in the corner of the office. When he walked in, he stopped (seemingly in shock), leaned over my shoulder, then started laughing.

    "O-chem?"
"Yeah, I have a problem set due in two days." I started to gather up my papers.
"God, I hated that class. I'm still not sure how I survived the tests."
"I'm not sure I COULD survive an inclass test."
The doctor laughed again, then asked, "So, under a lot of stress, I take it?"
    "Gods yes!"
"Well, the good news is that you condition is almost certainly stress-induced. I'll run a few tests to make sure that there isn't any actual injury to the G.I. tract, but I'm almost certain it's stress. The bad news, of course, is that it's stress related and you have a month..."
"A month of o-chem one plus all of o-chem two."
"Several months of this left to survive. I'd recommend talking to a therapist to see if you can get your anxiety levels down. And you might want to look at some sort of anxiolytic medication if your problems continue."

Organic Chemistry: It didn't just hurt my head, it hurt the rest of me, too. And I have never gotten headaches like that from any work before or since.

    How did I survive?
Sheer stubbornness, the grace of God, three all-nighters, and the luck to already have two chemistry majors as friends.

Oh god, the architecture class was shit. And I was totally gung-ho about it too. It just ate up about 48 hours per DAY!! Sheeeeeeeeit... My professor literally told the class to cancel tickets home for Thanksgiving. We were required to spend hours in the lab. Pfffttttt...

I loved Calculus. I adored Calculus II. I'm drooling over the fact that I get to take Harmonic Analysis (Fourier!!!) next spring. Yeah... I'm sick in the head.

it would either be finite math or biology.

I just did shitty in biology. hated it.

finite math I took over the summer in a five or six week course, going every day for a long time and doing problems every night and working a full-time job. The guy who taught the class even told us that he didn't think the class should be taught in the summer because it was too difficult to learn that fast. I somehow got a C and passed but I heard the guy curved and everyone probably just failed.

my intro to soc course SUCKED! Afterwards I took several more sociology courses and loved them but my intro was awful. The woman who taught it spoke so low you couldn't hear her and I sat in the front row. She said if you can't hear to sit closer. What was I supposed to do, sit in her lap? Then I found out at test time that the test was completely based on the text book which she never once even discussed in class. So all the notes I took in class and studied were totally useless. Also, this woman was at least 15 minutes late to class EVERY DAY! She always said it was because she had a long drive but I'm like damn woman leave earlier! This was years ago and I was going to a private college that cost about $1000 per class so I figure I was owed back at least $250 for the time she wasn't there in class.

There's a reason I'm a Spanish major and not an engineer. Heh.

Euclidian geometry. Yeah, I dropped that class.

Organic Chem was hard; I had to put a LOT of time into it.

First year biology was hard...harder than any 2nd, 3rd or 4th year biology course I've taken since. They throw EVERYTHING at you in first year bio! You don't learn much new after first year, you just refine your knowledge of the concepts. So hang in there!

I took a class in Old English Grammar that was killer. I actually failed the exam the first time, and had to retake it (got an A- when I retook it).

I only took a little bit of orgo in HS, as a college course it would have to be the hardest.

The hardest classes for me involved writing papers.

THAT IS SO TRUE!!!!!!!! Even my bio prof admitted this. He said, "If I had things my way, I'd make you take the specifics first and then take Intro to Bio. In intro to bio, they just throw everything at you. In upper level courses, they tell you how it works." Man, I remember freshman chemistry. It's hard because they throw all sorts of shit at you, but don't tell you HOW IT ACTUALLY WORKS until the next semester! I got a C in freshman chem I and II the first time, but got an A when I retook chem I (that's all that's required for nursing) because I actually knew how it all worked!

Pharmacology is currently sucking, but I'm maintaining a solid high-B average on exams (2/3 of the class has had to drop so far, good to know I've made it this far), I got 100% on dosage calculations, and 21 years have taught me overall, knowing the test material is the second most important thing in succeeding. THE KEY TO DOING WELL ON TESTS IS KNOWING HOW TO TAKE TESTS! Luckily for me, all the pharm exams are multiple choice, so I have process of elimination and contexting on my side. The worst part of this class is that it's a summer class, so it's crammed. The good thing is that since it's so close together, the info is fresher in your mind. There's also no comprehensive final, yay!

The hardest class I've ever taken was Human Situation, commonly called Human Shit. It's a lit course spanning over 2 semesters, Antiquity and Modernity. It was interesting, but it was so much reading, with difficult papers and written exams that would fill up multiple blue books. This was the pretentious honor's college (in college, the only thing that matters is GPA. It's better to graduate with GPA-based honors than to jeopardize your GPA with classes that aren't necessarily harder but require shitloads more work), back in the days of my extreme inferiority complex. I don't regret joining the honor's college, as it was a great experience and opened up my eyes in many ways, but it was little more than pretentious fluff and like 95% of people drop out of the honor's college b/c it's honestly not worth the slightly prettier degree.

Honestly, some of the hardest classes I took were basic core freshman courses like polisci. Back in my freshman days, I was religiously diligent and had the energy to care about stuff that I don't care about. In my later years, I just wanted to stick to my major and FUCKING GRADUATE.

Most people found A&P and microbio to be painful, but I was lucky. I took them at a small private college in which classes were no larger than 40 people, and science labs were either taught by the classes's professors or experienced lab techs (yes, such a thing exists. Not all places just dump the labs on clueless grad students who can't speak English). I'm very grateful that I took many of my classes at a small school.

I had a choice between Algebra II and Logic. I hate math, so I opted for Logic. BIG MISTAKE. Algebra, while boring, at least makes sense once you learn the rules. That "Logic" class had absolutely no basis in logic whatsoever, from where I sit. It was the most confusing class I've ever taken, and to this day, I have absolutely no idea how I passed it. (I got a D, the lowest grade I've ever gotten.)

Freshman year of college, I took Economics and spent the whole semester in a spaz. I failed almost every quiz and exam. The night before the final, I stayed up all night studying my ass off, and I had no idea after the final how I'd done. Somehow I pulled a B in the class. I have no idea how this happened. He must have graded on a curve or something. I chalked it all up to luck.

I did have to drop a women's studies class once because the professor was just so out there, we couldn't have gotten along, and it was her turf. I'm a feminist, but this woman was a liberal fanatic like none I've ever seen. She once brought in a guest speaker who told us that adoption should be outlawed because it is "facist redistribution of poor children to the wealthy." When I asked if it would be better for those children to grow up poor and neglected, the instructor suggested that I probably wasn't going to do well in her class and I should reconsider taking it. Only time I ever dropped, but I didn't need to be warned twice.
