    Default water weight

what's the best way to tell if you've gained water weight or "real" weight? i'm guessing that i've only gained water weight, but i'm not so positive and want to know as soon as possible. oddly enough, the scale only shows an increase in about 1-2 lbs, but i notice a difference in my clothing. also...if you recommend a diuretic, which are the best?

have you eaten a lot of salt lately?

when I gain water weight, it seems to localize in my belly and (blech) back and then I'll do a juice fast for a day or two and drop it.

Oh, and my rings feel really tight too.

you could try a diuretic, but it might just work temporarily....meaning that as soon as you drink water, your body could retain it again. if you want to lose the water weight for a short amount of time, this option works. emily's suggestion is also great if your weight increase is due to salt. try drinking lots of water and this could flush out salt, as your body needs to maintain a balance of salt and water. if this is pms, then drinking water may help too. i know, it's much more comforting to think of those 1-2 pounds as water weight....that goes away.

I read that drinking lots of water will make you lose water weight as your body knows it no longer has to hold on to the water it has retained. Or something.

    Can't hurt anyway...

Eat a lot of watermelon, it's a natural diuretic.

If you want like an industrial strength diuretic, try Teraxatone. It makes you pee like crazy. Try lemon in your water and I think apple cider vinegar tablets help but I think there is some debate over it's effectiveness.
