The following didn't seem to "fit," in either "Hustle Hut," "Member Boards" or "Dollar Den," so I'm posting it here in the Lounge, specifically after reading the "lies, lies, lies" thread here.
This is from one of the items given to us at a lecture at a local Unity Church in SoCal. It was somewhere around 5-7 years ago. The lecture was given by guest lecturer Rev. Paul Tegnalia, who was a minister at a Unity Church in NYC at the time, if iirc. For some of you, this might be helpful, for others it might hinder, and for yet others, it will be neutral.
Here are the twenty items listed as being compiled by Rev. Tegnalia. Each statement is to be answered either "yes" or "no," with the greater number of affirmative answers being considered to be better at any given point in your life.
Btw, I consider this to be much more about a personal philosophy than religion, so it's also for atheists, agnostics, and those who follow whatever religion of their choice. So please don't be "put off" by the mention of G-d in one statement (replace it with whatever benevolent quality which makes the most personal sense to you - e.g., helpfullness, etc). Or the mention of "Universe" in two of the statements. Here are the twenty statements
1. I do the work I am passionate about.
2. I have wonderful and supportive friends.
3. I have a warm and comfortable home.
4. I have more than enough financial good to do what I want to do.
5. I have healthy relationships with family/spouse/partner.
6. I express wholeness in mind and body.
7. I exercise my body on a regular basis.
8. I love my body just as it is.
9. I have debt under control
10. I don't use phrases like "filthy rich" and "disgustingly wealthy"
11. Most wealthy people are generous people.
12. I truly believe in my heart that I deserve the best in life.
13. I am a beautiful person, inside AND out.
14. I can easily and graciously accept a compliment.
15. People enjoy being around me.
16. I have great ideas for success in my life - AND I follow through with them.
17. I put G-d first in everything I do.
18. I give back to the Universe at least 10% of all I have received from the Universe.
19. I believe I live in a friendly, loving, supportive, safe and abundant Universe.
20. I believe life should be a fun, exciting, joyful adventure - and it is!
After answering these statements "yes" or "no," you then complete the following statement:
"To me, prosperity means:"
And re: number 18 about giving back to the Universe, I personally believe such a "tithe" can be given to any charity which you personally regard as being worthwhile, whether animal rescue, medical aid, college scholarship funds, etc. It doesn't necessarily have to be to a church, but it could be whatever church someone does believe in as well.
