    Default Comfort Zones?

How do you handle getting outside your comfort zone?

I ask this, because I have been there today. We had an open house, and only one pair of people showed up. There was something decidedly familiar about one of them. It scared the heck out of me to think I would see someone I might know. That they would be checking out my own home, when I was pretty much a disaster.

I had been up most of the night. I had gotten the house in order as best I could, but. I was unshaven, and not really up to seeing someone. I had a few cuts to my neck due to an accident with my dremmel, so I had some bandages on. I was going to take them off after I showered. Suffice to say I could have been better off had my wife let me leave, but she wanted to go back to sleep, and someone needed to watch our son.

Funny if they had said they would drop by for a cup of coffee I would have welcomed them with open arms, and been the best host one could have. I would never have been intimidated then. I also would have been well presented. Coming over as a potential renter scared me so much I could not even say hi or look them in the eye.

So how would you handle it?

I would have just smiled and joked about it being a little early in the day. But on the other hand it is hilariously funny when people come over at the wrong moment and leave feeling a touch freaked out so there's a chance that if it had been me I would have played with that too (-:
Lucky only one couple showed up eh? :-D
