Default Question for the dancers with children...

    Hello Ladies!

I am almost seven months pregnant and I'm getting worried about what my body will look like after I give birth.

I wasn't too worried about it before because I plan on exercising as soon as I can but then I saw this website:

Seeing this site has made me so depressed about what my body will look like post-birth. Can the ladies who've had children and still dance offer any advice as to how you got your body back in shape?

    Thanks so much!

I don't understand how celebs get perfect bodies back.

I guess I'll have to wait until I quit dancing if I ever decide to have kids.

I had my daughter and danced three weeks later. My body snapped right back into shape. And the majority of dancers I've known have gotten theirs back as well.

Alot of these women who pork up during pregnancy absolutely want you to think you'll never get back in shape. It makes them feel better, I guess.

I was back into my regular clothes 10 days after I gave birth. Eat healthy, work out and you won't have to worry about much. Yes, your tummy is "flabby" for a little while, but that's to be expected. In fact, my post-baby body was much better than my pre-baby body. Yeah, I got stretch marks, but in the club, no one gave fuck-all and you couldn't see them anyways. Most of the guys that I gave dances to could have cared less about the stretch marks, cuz I had big boobs. LOL

I found that first post funny..."I was 125 before baby and at delivery, I weighed 176..." In other words, she probably actually ate enough for 2 and is saying, "This is what happens when you become a mommy." She's wrong...it's what happens when you eat enough for two.

Don't worry about what your body will look like. You'll be fine. And, the stars get their "perfect" body back by wearing flattering clothes and good airbrushing. You will never see a star in a formal photo shoot looking like she had kids. Even Britney Spear's photo shoot...not one stretch mark...perfect flawless skin...but, IRL...that's hardly the case.

This is a wonderful time for you...enjoy it.

I think that some of the pics on that website are worst case scenario. I lost 30 pounds within 2 weeks of my daughter being born. I used coco butter everyday of my pregnancy, sometimes up to six times a day. I do not have any strecth marks on my tummy now. I did get some stretch marks on my thighs and hips, but nothing really noticable. I started doing pilates a week after my daughter was born and that helped a lot with toning my tummy. I also breast feed until my daughter was 8 months old, which I think helped shrink my stomach faster. It did take about a year for my body to look like it did before. I weigh more now than I did pre-pregnancy but I look healthy. If you take care of yourself I don't think that you have anything to worry about. Eat healthy, drink lots of water and remember it take your body 9 months for you to have a baby, and it will take a while for you to get back into shape.

Also, I am 5'8 and I weighed 115 when I got pregnant and the day I delivered my daughter I was 190. I gained a ton of weight and now you can't even tell that I ever had a baby. Just try not to worry and enjoy these last couple of months of pregnancy.

That makes a lot of sense. WHEW! I feel much better now. I haven't gained too much weight so far (except in the boobs which is a bonus!) so I will stay motivated to keep exercising and continue eating healthy after my little one comes.

My mom had three kids. NOT one stretch mark on her stomach. NONE. She told me that she used baby oil(not sure if this can work for anyone, but it did for her) constantly. But it can be the type of skin she has too.

Nurse for as long as you can, try to for at least a month. Not only is it super healthy for your baby, your tummy shrinks more quickly and the pounds literally melt off.

I would say the women on that website are not into diet & exercise too any extent. Anything worth having is worth working for. That includes a healthy attractive figure.

Stretch marks are a bit of a different issue. It has nothing to do with how much lotion you can use and how many times a day you can apply it. Lotion sits on top of your skin. Stretch marks are scars that form at the very DEEPEST layer of your skin that no lotion can penetrate, and if it did, that lotion doesnt make scar tissue evaporate into thin air. Stories of women who smothered themselves in cocoa butter or other, and did not get stretch marks, werent going to get them anyway. Its mainly genetic, how elastic your skin is, can it stretch and bounce back without the scar tissue forming.

Loose skin left over from the skin having been stretched will also depend on how elastic your skin is (again no lotion can prevent or cure.) Dont gain too much weight, the lesser your skin will have to be stretched out. Of course you still might have a bit there. I have a tiny bit, not that anyone would really notice but as Im into fitness in a big way I might have a mini-tuck in the next couple of years to remove that little bit. I know I've done all the work I need to do to have tight abs.

Having said that, we can control how much our skin is stretched, by making sure we eat healthily, and not in excess. Excess weight gain, yes the skin will be stretched even more. Keep up with some healthy exercise (within reason) and fill up on the healthy stuff and lots of water.

Im 7 months pregnant with baby no.3. After baby no.2 I got in the best shape of my life. Im currently still lifting weights, doing cardio, and tracking my diet. Ive gained the recommended weight and know for sure I'm going to bounce back and be even fitter than ever after this baby.

I do have stretch marks, and I have noticed they show up worse in photos than they do in real life. I have fair skin so they dont show too badly at all. Theres different ways to cover them (fake tanners etc) and different things work for different people. I think if you do a search here you'll find that some stretch marks are no big deal. People without kids have'em, guys included. The lighting in the clubs usually is kind to them also.

You will be fine!! And ladies, check out this website! Hot moms rock!

It took me a couple months to really feel better to start dancing. I have bad stretch marks but Im getting a tummy tuck without touching my muscles and they're going to get rid of 90% of my stretch marks. The only ones you'll be able to see are the ones above my belly button. Everyones body is different and you have to drink ALOT of water! I heard it helps with the elacticity in your skin.

    Good luck and congrats!!!

Re: Question for the dancers with children...

Ok, so I have a two-year old and I am just starting out as a dancer. But bottom line, if you looked good before you got pregnant, chances are you will look good after. My breasts grew 2 cup sizes throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding, and went back down. I obviously dont have the frimness they once had, but I am pretty small-chested so they still look fine. As for stretch marks: You may get them on your stomach, boobs, thighs, butt, or you may not get them at all. I got a lot on my buns. But don't freak out! My ass had about a thousand dark purple lines all over it, and I cried all the time about my body never being the same, I couldn't possibly think they would fade when they were that bad. They don't go away, but they DO fade. If they are still dark when you get back on stage, try something like Sally Hansen Airbrush legs, its like a spray-on foundation, and I use it for my stretch marks and bruises. And as long as you keep up a reasonable amount of activity, Im sure you will look fantastic!

I wouldn't worry about it. I have two kids who both weighed 7 then 8 pounds at birth. Not small babies!!!! I weigh about 133 now (I'm 5'9") and my youngest is four now. I started dancing when my son was 8 months old. I have a flat belly. I DO have stretch marks though, but the majority of girls that have kids that I work with have GREAT bodies and DO NOT have stretch marks. My stretch marks have faded a lot and do not look bad, especially in the light of the strip club. Just make sure you eat health most of the time, get some exercise, and continue to do so after the baby. Many women think pregnancy is their excuse to eat whatever they want, in large quantities, and not care how much they gain. WRONG!!! Thats part of the reason alot of celebs seem to look so "great" after a baby. (Denise Richards, Heidi Klum) Hell, they looked great pregnant, and did not gain a ton of weight!!! You should be fine. I've seen many girls come back post baby and still look great. Congrats and good luck!!

    1-They can afford to hire a personal trainer to make them work at it;a personal nutritionist/chef to make sure they eat well;

2-They don't have to go to a 9-5 job that demands a lot of time, they can schedule two workouts a day, no problem

    3-Surgery is affordable for them

No comparison. I'm more impresseed with the milfs I see at the mall than any celebrity, at least in terms of how they keep their shape post-partum.

I think that you are right about the strectch marks. I think it probably does have more to do with genetics. My mom had two kids and also did not get any stretch marks at all. She is 62 now and still does not have any strecth marks or cellulite. I gained a ton of weight too. I gained 75 pounds. I was also on bed rest the last two months of my pregnancy. I was allowed to get up to go to the bathroom and shower once a day. Up until I went on bedrest I did workout everyday doing cardio, light weight lifting and yoga. I did use coco butter every day. Actually I think that I was obsessed of the possibility of getting stretch marks. I think the way that your body will react to your pregnancy depends on the condition of your body pre-pregancy and how well you take care of your body post pregnancy. Those women on that website have probably never seen the inside of gym.

Thanks I'm sure you will!!!! My diet is not great, and I do not, nor have I ever worked out consistently (longer than three weeks) This is my body at the worst in years mind you. I've just gotten back into full time!!! If you are exercising you can do FAR better than this!!! Good luck!

I really am thinking about one more kid Love my girls and can't live without them. sorry off track here back to the whole thing... eat healthy, walk if possible or any other form of exercise your comfortable with, breastfeed. and remember its not a crime to take a nap when you need one.

Just my 2 cents... I have three kids, a 2 year old, a 1 year old and a 3 week old. I am back at work and I look better than I did before I had them ( better curves ) and hardly any stretch marks. Only a few on my thighs that are hardly noticable. Just eat healthy and excercise (which is better for the baby anyway) Lots of people bounce right back. Good luck and enjoy your baby, they are a real blessing.

One of the biggest things I've noticed about your body going back after you have your child is your metabolism before and during. I had zero metabolism before because I never ate anything for basically my entire life and I never left my room. =( When I got preg I dropped about 30-40lbs in about two-three months then I gained about 30lbs and then after I had her my metabolism soon went back to what it was before I was preg. So that made my skin and stuff not want go back down like it should of. You probably have a high enough metabolism so it should go right back. =) I wouldn't worry too much about it now and just worry about your baby for now.

I think it's no use worrying about something that may or may not happen. If you eat right and are active, it's really up to genetics.

I was 87 lbs before each pregnancy and gained 30 lbs with each (naturally a stick, not anorexic BTW) and I lost the weight right away. The only stretch mark I have is a just about invisible one on my right breast and that came after a more recent weight gain and loss...not pregnancy.

Be proud of your motherhood badges, whatever they may be. I might have no stretchmarks and am still under 100lbs but the gray hair is horrendous!
