    Hi Cally,
you can try to have this surgery covered by OHIP but you have to go to your fam. doctor and prove that it is health risk -- that i mean if you can't breath.

I know a girl who had a awful nose and she went to dr. Pritchard (he is in Toronto) i remember she paid a lot of money 6 grand(i think) years ago so it could be even more. now.
she end up having an assome job out of her nose from him. I'v seen it.
    good luck

    Default Nose Job..

Okay so i've decided im finally getting a new nose w00t! I hate my nose, always have and always will. Its been broken a few times so I cant breath through it and ugh its just something about myself i've never liked. So im wondering what your experiances have been? If anyone has had one anyway. Im still looking for a good surgon in Toronto(I know there has to be one here cuz I mean come on, its Toronto). One doc I have looked at is hes supposed to be the best in Canada... but OMG 7 grand! I can get new boobies for that much! LoL... I know a girl who had hers and it looks great and she spend like $4000 on it I think... I have to ask her what doc she went to. So I guess im looking for advice, stories, doctors anything anyone has to offer on it.

I don't know much about nose jobs, but I imagine they are harder to do (and harder to do right!) than boobs, so don't price compare like that. I mean, the surgeon is going to be banging away with a chisel on your nose and sculpting it back in place. That's a lot more complicated than sticking an implant in a crease and sewing her back up, right?

Just my opinion is that if someone has a good reputation and can give you what you want, it's worth it to pay the extra. I've heard many stories of women going back because they were not happy with the results. I'm not talking MJ rhino....but like it looks like the doctor didn't do anything and they have the same exact nose.

edit: the doctors that are better are usually better because they have more experience and have learned better techniques (instead of hanging out on the golf course, or whatever) and they should charge more!

I guess it's just one of the things I learned about plastic srugery. You get what you pay for and a doctor you trust is worth all the money in the world.

I don't know about any doctors in your area but I had mine done over ten years ago and haven't regreted it one bit. I paid about $6000 back then so I can imagine it won't be cheap. Make sure you get someone who really knows what they are doing.

I've heard that rhinoplasty has the highest revision rate out of all of the cosmetic surgeries so it will definately pay off to really shop around for a surgeon. Here's a link for you to check out I love YTF!

god damn....now I'm YTF again. I should not be on there. I get bad ideas. I'm so close to measuring my face and seeing if my nose is jacked up. Because I can't determine this for myself

I guess I never really considered how complicated it can be I really really really want it and I figure since im making money now is the time to do it. Im almost wondering if OHIP(Ontario Health Plan) will cover it since i cant breath? Then again it wouldnt be a great doctor if it was free.. bah..

I recall my doctor taking my picture and showing me different proportions and how they should measure up. I was scared it would come out looking funny but I was really happy with the results. I did have to have a second surgery shortly after the first because my tip of my nose started to droop down.

Actually I don't think that's necessarily true, at least in the US. I'm pretty sure there are cases where work is a medical necessity and the majority (or all) of the costs could be covered. Your best bet is to start going on consults to see if this is the case...the cosmetic work could just be a happy addition for only a bit of extra $.

So how would I go about doing it through OHIP? Just schedual an apt with a regular doctor and ask for a referal to a PS and then talk to the PS about extra cost for the cosmetic part?

I'm sorry I really have no idea. I would probably talk about that with the doctors with whom I was considering performing the surgery. Doesn't hurt to ask. Or maybe try posting that question on a rhinoplasty forum? There are some pretty knowledgeable people on the YTF forums.

Cally, I had my nose done 5yrs ago, in Toronto. Best thing I ever did. No complications and healed great with little brusing. PM me and I will gladly give you the doc's name and number if you like. He is super nice and it only cost $4708 after tax. He even tried to get OHIP to cover some of the cost, but mine nose wasn't damaged enough for them to accept it. Geez, ya think after being busted 8 previous times it would have been!

    Hey Cally,

As with any plactic surgery, make sure to get a good look at your prospective doctor's portfolios/previous work and make sure your doctor is capable of giving you the nose you want.

Many Plastic Surgeons have a definite style to their work, and it's better to pay a bit more and get the nose you want than pay less and wind up with something different than you'd expect. After all, this isn't somethig that can be hidden under a shirt like a boob job (although, that probably can't really be hidden too much at work, can it?), a nose is on your face and one of the first things people see. Don't compromise on yourself, girl!

Many docs have online portfolios you can check out, too. Good luck!

When I had mine done they said I had a deviated septum and had I had decent insurance it would have covered some of it. however, my insurance was shit so I paid the whole amount myself.

if you have disliked your nose as long as you say you won't regret it. I was the same way. I actually wanted a nose job before I was young enough for a doctor to do it....or at a least a good doctor.

Me too Bunny. Seriously in grade 5 I told my mom I wanted a new nose. I HATE my nose with a passion. Im going to call for a consultation with a doctor tomorrow i've been eyeing. Hopefully I like his work and he can do what I want. *hops on the plastic surgry bus with every other SWer this year*

Here's a few doctors that I've heard many good reviews on:

http://www.drkconrad.com/about_dr_conrad.html I always hear how patient he is, and how he takes his work seriously.

This website has a listing of Canadian Plastic Surgeons..

What a coincidence I am scheduled to have a consultation for a nose job next month. All I want is for the doctor to make my nose less bulbous at the tip. I am hoping the recovery time is not too long!

Cally I don't recall how old I was but I remember telling my dad I wanted a nose job and he asked a surgeon he knew about it and the guy said I was too young. I think I was about 12. Well, when I was 21 I got it done and by then I had to pay for it myself. Oh well, at least I had it done.

I kept wondering what I should tell the surgeon I want it to look like but he just knew what to do. He took my pic and pointed out things that were and weren't in proportion (my nose was like twice as wide as it should be) and he said he was a little conservative because it's easier to take more off than to add more on. As it turned out I really was happy with it and my mom even liked it and she was VERY against me having it done!

i am going for my 2nd nose job. My first was about 8k, 2k after insurance.
He didn't do a good job and i simply was to lazy to do all the research...

a year and a half later i am going for another and paying about 10k for it out of pocket.. YEA.. i did my research this time and i had to fly out to see him.

The best advice i can give you is to go to someone who is freaking awesome. I saw before and after's of a victoria secret model.. yea... they were fucking spectacular!
