Being a dancer would stop you from being a famous model?

Was wondering, say, if you want to become a model(say for playboy, maxim, or any of those other magazines..and like other random modeling shoots such as bikini, lingerie, or casual dressing in any other magazine...)

would being a dancer somehow disqualify you? dont see how it would make any sense..but a few people tell me that when i say i want to be a dancer and a model..they say if they find out i was a dancer, it would make me get less work or something? dont really beileve that since its just a job, but..was wondering?

    thanks!

I don't see how it would effect adult work.

Playboy used to not allow any girls in the magazines to be strippers while they did shoots for Hef.... I dunno if that is still the rule since I dance with two girls who are in the new Girls With Girls special edition....

If you think you are going to be famous, like Victoria's Secret, Christian Loboutin, Gucci famous, chances are dancing WILL effect your career. At that point I assume you would no longer be dancing but the past will always come back to haunt you, thats what I'm terrified of too as I'm doing pretty well in pursuing a modeling career. I don't need to be bribed by my old owners or anything.
As for adult work you should be fine, and for smaller jobs/shoots, I wouldnt go around telling everyone that you are a stripper, what they don't know can't hurt them.

Hmm..yheah i mean i dont think id be dancing either if i got an oppturnity to be a sort of famous model who does alot of work. and yah im sure for adult work it wouldnt matter....and its not like i would tell anyone i am or WAS a stripper, anyways.

but, how would it effect it, if say you get a chance to do like victorias secret and stuff?

good job on having some luck doing modeling. im doing okay..but uh, yeah, i hope dancing wouldnt effect anything...i think it would be stupid if it did, especailly if it was in the past...shit!

Some of the exclusive contracts might have stipulations in them about what kinds of things you can do or have done, and you might be legally bound to reveal your past and could get fired or sued if you lied about it.

I think a lot of models get hired so young they don't have time to have danced.

I work with three girls who have been in special editions... One of them has been in the mag eight times.... We have their playboy photos all over our dressing room...

I don't have any idea if this is still true...but it used to be the case that you could be in the lingerie and special editions, but you were less likely to be chosen as a playmate of the month, and if you were, you had to sign a contract that you wouldn't use the name playboy to represent yourself unofficially (ie, as a featuring credit), for a stipulated length of time. So everybody did penthouse instead.

Are you looking to model or to be a celebrity?

If it's the former, lots of independent outfits might want you, while if it's the latter, then you might have a problem.

What I found when I tried to hire strippers for anything (modeling, phone sex) was that if you didn't drop a lot of money on them for nothing and promise to make them famous, while working for a big outfit, they figured you were either lying or couldn't help them. This is why most women get "discovered" in places like the mall, since $6.00 an hour isn't much competition for modeling pay. Too bad it never occurred to the dancers that by not helping me make money that was money that wouldn't be shared with them.

The men's magazines generally can get strippers to work cheap since the dancers give them a pass on the money, focusing on the exposure, but really all they are doing is making these guys richer.

The first place to start is with your official website and a portfolio. Someone who might use you should be able to find you on the web with one click. In general, however, I'd say that most dancers aren't seriously considering this type of work or they wouldn't be dancing.

Maxim and Fhm ect usually only feature Models who have already gained some attention elsewhere.

Playboy has had at least one playmate that I know of who was a stripper before being published ( but not after). This was Anna Nicole Smith who met her ( deceased ) billionaire husband in a club she worked at in Texas (I believe )

    Uh, thanks.

So, do you actually have any info on the question Windy asked??

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!
