Get me out of here!
And by "here", I mean Hollywood.
My best friend and I were almost run off the road by some crazy tweaker in a black Mercedes a few hours ago. I live very close to a hotel, and her car was parked in front of it early this morning. We were up late editing photos and I decided to walk her to her car just to be safe (she would drive me back to my house in return). We got in and she started the car, then some guy pulled up behind us glaring his high beams. I remember saying how strange it was that he was behind us, because there were several open parking spaces in front of us. Behind us was a "red" zone. We figured he was waiting for us to leave so he could take our spot. Wrong.
He turned the corner just as we did, following very closely. She slowed down when she got close to my house, because we thought maybe he was in a hurry and trying to pass us. Wrong again. He pulled up next to us and stopped. When I looked, he appeared to be in his mid-30's, of Hispanic descent and with bad skin. She stepped on the gas and we took off, with him following us closely on every turn. We headed east toward the police station.
The guy would not let up. He followed extremely close, flashing his high beams and waving a cell phone (?) out the window. We are still not certain as to why he would do this, other than to take pictures of her license plate or make us think he had a gun, but I could see the screen and buttons facing us. He didn't just FOLLOW us though, he was continuously trying to pull up next to us by driving the the opposing lane! And he'd have to move back because cars would be coming from the other direction and it was only a two way street. PSYCHO!!!
Finally, we turned and entered the police station parking lot, and he kept going straight. We were panicked and didn't know where the entrance was, so we waited in the lot for a good 10 minutes. And we could SEE his car parked a block away with the lights on through a fence. So we left the parking lot out the back entrance and headed in the opposite direction.
We think he might have stolen the Mercedes and was trying to jack our car by running us off the road.
What makes the situation even stranger is that our other friend (who we consider a sister) called us as soon as we got back to safety and said she had a bad feeling that something was wrong with us. She lives an hour away and was in Hollywood to use the internet cafe...at 6 am! She obviously didn't have anything to do with the incident, but it was just proof that things are just weird lately.
We decided against filing a police report since the cops probably wouldn't be able to do much about it after the fact. But now we are really freaked out. I want to get out of Hollywood...this place is not what everyone thinks it is.
This is just a reminder that just when you think you are safe, you really aren't. I know a lot of girls leave their clubs late at night or really early in the morning. I know I do...Please, be safe.

Re: Get me out of here!
For me to move around within the LA area, it is expensive and stressful...but my friend and I have been discussing other places in the country to live that aren't as expensive or crazy.
Our current picks for scouting are: Phoenix, Dallas, Austin and Atlanta (although the crime rate in ATL is pretty high). We plan on taking week long trips over the next several months to different places and eventually buying a house together.
