Ok so she was found not guilty by insanity today. Me and my boyfriend had this debate: I believed people can really just be "crazy". Even if they can be on medication that can make them sane, it's not worth the risk to let someone out who drowned 5 children hoping that she really is sane. It's not worth her not taking her meds, the meds just not working, etc, and going out and harming another child after 5 are dead due to her.
His stance was some people really can get better, and it isn't their fault that they're crazy, which I agree with. But he believes if someone passes through hundreds of evaluations and is believed to be sane with the help of medications, therapy, etc, she should get a chance to live her life again free in society.
What are you guys' take on this? Do you think she should ever be able to use her chance of getting out?
