    Default Winter bad in Australia?

I keep seeing threads and posts and countless comments such as 'Is it bad in summer?' and 'It's summer so work will be worse.'.

I'm the lower hemisphere where it's winter and a girl told me the other day, "It's slow because it's winter. Once it gets hot again, it'll pick up." Even GoldCoastGirl made a mention to it in her post about Spearmint Rhino, Melbourne.

Is Australia better in Summer? I mean, it's around Christmas (which a girl told me was good because people were in the giving spirit. Huh, different then US) so it should be worse, right?

I was thinking with summer and holidays being together like that, it would be MUCH better in winter than in summer, especially since Australia's version of 'winter' is laughable (to me). It's sunny and the birds are chirping and it's supposed to be the northern hemisphere's version of January right now!

So it really makes me wonder about this whole 'summers are bad' myth.

Summers are only bad in the US. Winter is the slow time of year in Australia in re: strip clubs due to the weather being chilly. We are a nation that loves our sun... plus all the events etc happen Spring-Summer. Darwin is the only place where it is decent during Winter and awful during Summer (as it is too bloody hot/humid).

For instance, it is a well known fact that people tend to have weddings in Spring thus Bucks parties will happen more frequently from August onwards... a few Grand Finals for various footy codes happen in September (AFL for instance), then there's Indy in October along with the Spring Racing Carnival which includes the "race that stops the nation" (and it does) in October-November... and so on and so forth not to mention Christmas which does put people in a better more giving mood.

The period between Christmas and New Years is only lucrative in select parts of Australia (it isn't on the Gold Coast in re: strip clubs).

Private party-wise things do slow down after January however in re: strip clubs things don't really slow down until around April.

This is just my personal observation. Feel free to disagree with me.

Gold Coast Girl's right, winter does die off a bit-but if you look around this is throughout the night/club entertainment industry not just strip clubs... people just don't go out as much in winter.

Summer is good-december tends to be a great month with the lead up to christmas but push yourself when the money's follwing cause usually, come january money dries up as people realise how much they've spent over christmas. Jan, at least in melbourne is a shocker Feb/march tend to also be ok as peole recover finnacially.
