Default Could I get busted for this in Dallas?

I tried doing a search but I'm not finding exactly what I'm looking for...

Last time I worked in Dallas I was scared to death of being caught by vice. I heard horror stories from girls who got arrested for putting thier hand on a customers knee or shoulder while topless.

Well I'll be in Dallas again and I'm wondering if it's worth my sanity to work there a couple of shifts. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I guess my biggest question is how I could give a dance without getting arrested but still give some contact. Would vice bust me for alternating between topless air dancing and clothed lap sitting during my dances? Like if I had a tube dress on I'd pull it down while dancing 12" away from him then pull it back up so I'm covered and lapdance. Does that make sense?

Oops! I thought I was posting this in Club Chat. Sorry, Mods! feel free to move it...

I have had a run-in with vice in TX 3x since 2001. Basically, the rules are set up to make you fail. My best advice would just be keep an eye on the door. In the event that a vice person pulls you off the floor, do not argue with him under any circumstance. What saved me the 3 times I had the run-in with TABC was apologizing profusely, and agreeing with them that I was wrong and promising not to do it again. Any time a girl tried to argue, they always took her.

There's no way anyone could make money in my club following the city ordinance. Much less in larger cities like Houston where there's a six foot rule. Ridiculous. And I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter if you have a dress on when you're grinding on their lap, it's still sexual contact. I think the only real touching that is allowed is "incidental touching" as in accidentally.

Wow. Is this recent? I haven't been in Dallas for 5 or 6 years, but it was a different atmosphere at that time.

the real kicker with Texas law is that 'sexual contact' is a wide open category, as is the relationship between the person paying the money and the person engaging in the 'sexual contact'. For example, if two dancers are onstage at the same time, if one dancer happens to touch the other dancer's breast, and if a customer is tipping at the rail, technically this can result in a conviction for prostitution under Texas law.

It just pisses me off, when a girl accidentally falls into my lap and takes a good 3-5 minutes to get up... Then she has the nerve to ask me for a $20... Whats up with that?

I would be willing to bet that the closer we get to the November general elections, the more preveliant the busts will be.

Busting strippers for being "dirty whores" is good press for law makers who are "getting tough on crime" and distracts from the real issues like government waste and corruption.

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

^^^ ain't that the truth !!! Also, you didn't mention that every bust results in at least a couple of thousand dollars worth of revenue to the city, between fines, court costs and legal fees to a private attorney. Of course if you choose to 'cheap out' with a public defender, odds are that you'll wind up costing the city money to put you up for a few days in the local lockup.

Houston is actually a 3 ft rule that has been challenged by the club owner and has been tied up in the courts for 2-3 years. It is NOT enforced by any streach of the imagination!! Party on!!!

There's a pretty simple loophole around this if you're creative, and it's perfectly legal (until the cops decide to outlaw it as well).

If I were female and a dancer I would LOVE a no-touching rule because the other girls would never be able to compete with me.

I'd say PM me to learn it, but I'm banned from PMs, and you girls don't do OTB, so I guess you're SOL.

I really do not think apologizing and promising not to do it again is the best thing as they may use that as a confession in court. Most lawyers that I have spoken to have advised me just to keep my mouth shut and not say anything in the event I am caught in a raid. Apologizing and saying you won't do it again is like admiting guilt to a cop.
Any dancer working in the industry needs to already have a lawyer on retainer. Make sure it is one who does not work for your club or agency. Save some money ($500-$1000) and give it to a trusted friend who can bail you out just in case. Memorize your lawyer's, and friends cell numbers.

THE LAWRENCE VS. TEXAS CASE HAS VERY BROAD IMPLICATIONS WHICH COULD BE VERY GOOD FOR THE SC INDUSTRY... I SUSPECT THIS CASE WILL BE TESTED BY SOME SC OWNERS (PROBABLY IN CA.) AS TO HOW FAR REACHING THIS PRECEDENT DECISION CAN BE...

    LAWRENCE VS TEXAS

A law branding one class of persons as criminal solely based on the state’s moral disapproval of that class and the conduct associated with that class runs contrary to the values of the Constitution and the Equal Protection Clause, under any standard of review.”
—Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, agreeing with the majority.

The state cannot demean their existence or control their destiny by making their private sexual conduct a crime," Kennedy wrote.

Though Chief Justice William Rehnquist, and Justices Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia offered a dissenting opinion in Lawrence vs. Texas, in which they argued for a state's ability to establish a "moral code" of conduct, they were in the minority. The Lawrence decision,"can be reasonably interpreted as holding that public morality is not a legitimate state interest sufficient to justify infringing on adult, private, consensual, sexual conduct even if that conduct is deemed offensive to the general public's sense of morality."

I agree that admitting that I did something wrong probably wasn't the best thing to do, I'm lucky it worked.
