    Exclamation anxiety and neck pain

    Ive been doing some research and it seems that its not just anxiety that cuases neck pain, but that chronic neck pain can cause anxiety and panic attacks. im starting to seriously think this is the main source of my panic attacks and anxiety.

    i never have it untill i notice that my neck is getting very stiff and hurts, then i start to think its turning ito a panic attack and i work myself up over it.

    does anyone else think this could be the root of their anxiety problems?

    you need to look at this book pain erasure it was recomended to me by a nurse, yery helpgul for reoccuring pains.

    but i dont think neck pain causes anxiety.

    I have both anxiety/panic disorders and chronic neck pain. I think the anxiety is the original cause of my neck pain, but I do think that now they both build on each other.

    I'm writing a research peper on the link between psychological disorders and physical pain; I can email it to you if you want, there's lots of info about this in it.

    But in short: yes. There is ample evidence that physical pain can lead to psychological disorders, and vice versa.

    Stress can be causing the anxiety and the neck pain. You may wanna see if you can do anything to reduce the stress in your life.

    Yes, physical pain causes mental stress. Physical pain also causes physical stress as in shortened breath, irregular heart rythyms, etc.

    I used to be able to quickly 'block out' pain from many, many injuries. For a while, I was sort of happy and proud I could. Then years later, through meditation, massage therapy, and yoga, I realized that by blocking out the pain, I was torturing my brain and caused an incredible amount of anxiety.

    Over time, I'm allowing myself to acknowledge and feel the various pains, which has improved my othere senses as well. I can smell better, see better, distinguish sounds better. And yes, feel things better.

    And I have just about no anxiety anymore.
