Default National Agency Check or NAC

I've been offered a position on the military base, I have to go through a National Agency Check.. anyone here know the procedures in detail? I filled out the damn form, what I'm concerned about is my credit since ex-assclown wrecked it and I"m slowly rebuilding... I have a chapter 7 from 9 years ago, just wondering what I need to concern myself with. I spoke to the hiring supervisor and I was told that I had nothing to worry about, but everything I read says Credit check, etc....

Anyone who has any input, or knows first hand, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

It really depends on the clearance you need for the potential value of the information and equipment you will have available to you.

If you are going to be a gate guard - I don't think they are going to care to much about your credit rating. (Unless it is bordering on obvious scamming of creditors one right after another - that would be a question of honesty.)

If you are going to have access to troop deployments, cryptographical information (yea right - that would be top secret but for example), keys to weapon's lockers, etc. they are going to look at you a little more closely.

It is really up to what is called an Adjudicator to decide if you are good to go. It might be helpful to know who that is - it could be your potential boss for that matter or it could be someone else's responsibility (the usual case.)

For the most part - they just want to know they are not hiring a felon nor someone who is gonna steal shit to sell it on the black market.

The clearance I need is one step below a secret. I'm going to be working in the hospital, as the Manager of Managed Care and referrals. It is still intimidating. From what I have read thus far on the internet, its a lot of freaking red tape.. I'm thinking they are just going to run my name through the FBI and OPM and make sure I'm not wanted, I haven't been arrested and that I'm a clean slate. I've lived a boring life, other than my dancing, and othe than that, I don't see any thing that would give them a red light except that my stupid ex did a number on my credit, although now, I have managed to rebuild it and get two scores that reflect...

    But... it is still intimidating.

For your level of clearance Gynger, I don't think some financial trouble several years back is much to worry about. They are more than likely trying to make sure that you didn't have some dealings with shady individuals or if you're trying to hide something. Your credit history is a good place to hunt for clues.

I found an article here which might answer some of your questions:

    Best of luck!
