    Best Birth control pill?

I've been dating my current boyfriend for a while now, and i want to start taking the pill. What do you guys recomend? what are you all taking? I've never been on the pill before.. (we always use condoms) I heard that the pill increases your blood pressure.. that makes me nervous..(mine is a bit high, nothing extreme) so the dr. said she's gonna have to watch that..
    thanks ladies!

I've had the best luck with the nuva ring. I got pregnant on the pill, beautiful girl love of my life. I don't recomend the safe day sex not safe days, another beautiful little girl. The nuva ring has worked for almost 2 years for me now.

I'm on Ortho and it's been ok for me so far. I've tried the Depo shot, Yasmin, Ortho Lo, and one other pill I can't think of the name of right now, and I had bad side effects from all of them. Everyone's body is different, so what works for one may not work for another. It took me about 3 years to find something that actually worked with my body, but now I'm happy with the Ortho.

And I'm happy with depo. It's entirely up to your body.

I never tried Depo...but I've tried a few of the others. They all gave me bad side effects. Make sure you keep track of how you are feeling...your weight, etc. Just because your doc prescribes one pill doesn't mean that it's the only pill. You should not really gain weight or go psycho bitch on the pill...but some pills will do that to you...and others won't. So, you may have to experiment with them until you find one that works for you.

nuva ring!!! i love it. never have to remember a pill. you use their little stickers on your calendar to remind you to take out your ring every 3 weeks. very very simple

The Nuva Ring is the best ever. I have tried 5 other kinds of BC and they all made me either get depressed, fat, or both. Also, I did get pregnant on one of them, so really watch out for the pills. The patch is ok, but I got insanely puffed up! The Nuva Ring has little to no side effects. I love it!

I just started the nuvaring (finished my first month) and I love it too! Don't have to remember anything except to mark on your calendar when to take it out and put it in. And for some reason I feel better having a constant flow of hormones instead of taking a pill once a day.

I use nuvaring as well, though the first time I tried it I had bad side effects. Now, I have none. I used to use the patch (which I loved) but doesn't exactly work if you're dancing.

Avoid Depo... the long term effects of it are not worth it. It makes your body think its preggers so you gain weight, it causes osteoperosis, severe mood swings, a damper on your sex drive and just nasty.

Not true for everyone. I have a sex drive to rival yekhefah on depo. He that were one hundred percent true, I'd be arrested for raping multiple men! The mood swings however, might be true.

I'm with Lilith. I've been on Depo for many years now (after 2 years I lost count).... and whilst I gave my body a break recently since my last depo shot was done sometime last year or early this year (before I got the shot yesterday).... no real side effects. I did have side effects with the daily pill.

Depo works for me. It doesn't work for everyone or there wouldn't be so many forms of BC available today. As for the NovaRing... I don't think it is available here in Australia as it isn't listed on http://www.nuvaring.com/Internationa...ionalSites.asp

If it was, I would naturally think there would an "aussie" (.com.au) site available for it....

I was just on yasmine, and it made my utarian lining so thin, my body, at 22 started behaving as if it were going through menopause. They docs are trying to reverse the damage since february, but no luck yet. I don't know if I can have kids or not.
They say it was an accumulative effect of pcos, and being on the pill for almost 9 years. I still believe it was the yasmine. I had no problems with ortho tri cycline

Any good doctor will tell you to not use Depo more then a year straight because of the long term effects of it. There are so many negatives to it im surprised its still used.

I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for a month-

it make my boobs get really big, but also made me nauseous and killed my sex drive. Which is probably a good thing, but still...

I gain 15 pounds (15 pounds- in a MONTH!) and my body started storing fat in places it usually didn't go- namely, my stomach. I didn't want to go outside. I was depressed and had NO sex drive and no energy. I also broke up with my boyfriend after calling him a c*ck-sucker for something he did a year prior.

    Eh. It was pretty bad.

I did go on another, low-dose pill (April or something- still searching for it) that had very little side effects besides hindering my running training a bit.

I've heard wonderful things about the Nuvaring. My friends that have used it swear by it now.

Ortho Tri-Cyclen had no effect on me in my early twenties because I was already a psycho. But when I went off it for five years and tried Yasmin again recently, I had an awful experience. Zero sex drive. Terrible mood swings. The same with Alesse. And these are supposed "low dose" hormonal birth control pills.

My body just can't tolerate birth control pills anymore, it seems. So I'd say the best pill is no pill. Use condoms instead.

I have taken Marvelon 28 for the past few years and have not had any problems. My boobs are very tender before my period and I still get pretty bloated, but I haven't gotten pregnant and my periods are like clockwork, so I think it's pretty good.

Used to be on Depo whe I was in high school, and now that I think about it, my boobs were pretty big, to the point where people thought they were fake, and I am wondering if the depo had anything to do with it. If I remember correctly, I think I had spotting on depo.

I just started taking Yasmin my boobs are sore and growing but I have lost some weight .
I have been eating more than usuall not becasue of the pill but becasue i was on vacation i was afried to get on the scale and was astonished to see that I had lost some weight expecting to have gained at least what felt like 5 lbs.

I looked up Yasmin and side effects on obgyn.net (every women should have this site bookmarked, comes in handy) in the fourms and saw how many have actually lost weight on it.

I did tell my Gyno that I didnt like Ortho-Tri becasue it made me gain weight and I had no sex drive anymore while on it. She said that was weird that bcp's doesnt cause lack of libido, since reading all of you who had lost libido too, she is definatley wrong. I knew it was those damn pills!

Its only been a month on Yasmin so far and no other symptoms.

i've been on yasmin for four years now and i love it. i've had no problems- in fact, it's made my periods much lighter and much less painful (they used to be horrible speeding abortion there's a demon in my uterus bad) and it's decreased my mood swings. i love it. i think it's all really a question of how your individual body reacts to different methods.
