Why not ring them up and ask? Tell them you are interested in the positions yet are unclear as to what they are really requiring.......... go to the source.

I suppose. I just wanted to see if any ladies here knew what they were; I feel like such a noob asking them. My friend is celebrating her birthday on Friday at one of their shows, so I shall see.

^^ Right. I think they were just being cute. Like advertising for "bumpers and grinders". I wouldn't hink those were two separate jobs with disctinctly different job descriptions.

I think they just mean that they're looking for dancers who like doing those moves, not for people to perform each move individually.

I have a "burlesque glossary" in my yahoo group

It doesn't include all those terms, which are informal, but it might give you an idea of the style.

Do burlesque troops generally want girls with experience, or are they accepting to newbies?

Also, is there a good forum/website for burlesque? I'm very interested in getting into it, and Im the kind that likes to do research.

Usually if you've gone to a few shows and have an idea what's going on, they're as friendly as can be. If you don't know what the shows they're doing are like, they tend to be...let's just say, they tend to be a bit tired of explaining the difference between stripping in a strip joint and stripping in a neo-burlesque show. And there's a big difference between the majority of burlesque shows and the type of show the Pussycat Dolls do. To me the main difference is in the target audience--in most strip joints you're looking to dance for individuals, whereas in burlesque you're looking to dance to an entire audience. But there is no one way to describe the difference which has no exceptions. I was a feature dancer in the early 90s, and the costumes I used then were usually more elaborate than the ones I use now, so it's not just the costumes.

There are a lot of articles about burlesque on my site:
