    Default feeling overwhelmed before work?

does anyone else get this horrible feeling in their tummy before work every night? its like overwhelment, knowing i have $x to aim for, and how on earth will i make that much etc etc.

its weird. every night i work, without fail, i get a sore tummy, and feel sick. even if im feelinig positive about myself and my ability at work, i still have this heavy feeling in my tummy, like 'to make $x dollars thats like X customers, thats alot of people...what if...?"

    its annoying.

I used to feel the exact same way, but now I pressure myself differently. Some pressure is good, it keeps you on target, but the point is for it to motivate you, not to make you want to stay home and mooch around.

I don't say, I need to make 500$ tonight, but it's a Tuesday, there may not be so many custys. I'll also need to tip out 100$, so, assuming I make 80$ on stage throughout the night, I'll need to do at least 1 vip room (100$ 1/2 hr.) and do 420$ in dances, that's 21 dances. That means I'll need to talk to about 40 guys! This kind of approach is totally bad, it makes you feel terrible, and pressured. When I used to do this, I counted, constantly. I could tell you exactly what I needed to hit that goal, as well as how much time I had to do it in. I don't do this anymore, because this new aproach is so much less upsetting, and so much more effective.

I always make a goal, but to make it kind of fun, I reward myself.

For example, let's pretend I need to make 1500$ a week, 500 for bills, and 1000$ to save. Once I hit that goal, I treat myself with the rest. When I set goals for the week, rather then a day, I'm much more excited about the rewards, and the pressure is diminished. If I have a bad night, it sucks, but it's ok, because I know I have so many other chances to make money before I total up. Don't count constantly, and allow yourself to have a little fun. Just because you're at work doesn't mean it's ALL about THE MONEY. it means it's All about YOU!

Moral: set weekly, meetable goals, and reward yourself!

(oh, I also reward myself for saving. I love to shop, so knowing that I'll go away for a spa weekend once I have, say, 10,000 in the bank, helps me save more and spend less. Once you've started saving, you'll be motivated to keep it up.)

Good luck, and I hope this helps. Sorry it's so long, but I'm feeling wordy.

    Lola Rose, that was PERFECT!!

i totally look at my earnings on a nightly basis ($400 p/n is target, with my club taking 45% the target is a little harder to reach then other clubs ive worked at) your right about thinking in terms of weekly amounts.

i have a $1500 a week target, which means working 4 nights a week at $375 each night. minus tax tho, and im left with $1000 a week. meh.

looking at it as a week instead of a night, might help tho thanks!

I always feel that way the first time I go on stage on a weekend night. I don't know why!

I used to feel that way. I think what stopped it was saving as much as I could on good nights. So knowing I have rent just in case I only make a hundred makes me feel better

I just think of how much stress I felt when I had a corporate job. It makes dancing seem easy. You are your own boss and the only person that matters.

No problem, I'm sure you'll be helped by that as much as I was when I realized it! It really makes a difference.

I totally want to re-enforce the set weekly goals instead of nightly ones! This way if you have a bad night.. it's totally okay! As one of the next few nights you work can make up for the bad night. Not only that.. if you do make more than your weekly target: splurge on yourself!!!

Even if it is something simple as going to Baskin and Robbins or Cold Rock IceCream... and splurging on something sweet! Or to buy yourself a DVD you have always wanted to buy.. etc.

I feel this way whenever I haven't been working for a few days. I was supposed to go into tonight but decided against it. And it sucks that I have a 0 minute drive to work...I'm all wound up by the time I get there.
