    Default setting goals

How do you ladies go about setting monetary goals? I am starting at a new club tonight, and don't really know what amount to target. I guess I'll know better after tonight. Do y'all raise your standards with time too? I've been mainly at the same club for 2 years and I'm kind of nervous. Does setting goals help your hustle?

    thanks!

I would think setting a concrete goal would hurt me.

If I went in saying "OK, I'm gonna get $X" tonite," and I'm not there toward the end of my shift, I might get pressy and short with custies, going all for money instead of building a raport or otherwise making them cumfortable enough to spend money.

The business these days is just so unpredictable, which makes it kind of fun, but I think you'll just get frustrated trying to hit a fixed amount everyday. A frustrated dancer has a lot harder time making money, at least in my experience.

One of the things I've learned in my travels is to never set "goals". The reason is that, when you think about it, goals are meant to be set and it's okay if you don't make it. That kind of attitude usually winds up huring you more than helping you in the long run. Instead, I like to say I set "plans" instead of goals. The reason is a plan is something you take action on. A goal is something you think about. Change the way you think about your strategies with this system and you'll actually get much better results. So instead of saying, "My goal tonight is to make $500.00", say, "My plan tonight is to make $500.00." Now your entire strategy has shifted for the better.

I set goals, and this does help me. My goals are always do-able and they are not always directly about money. My favorite goal is to dance for at least 10 customers. Customers almost always get more than one dance, or decide to take me to a more private area$$. Half way through my night I have usually forgotten about this goal, but it really gets me started. In the begining of the night I might think, "How am I going to make tonight worth my drive up and the wait at the border." When I think about the number ten the night seems to get easier.
Where I work right now they have 2 for 1 "downstairs" dances all nighton Sunday. I make a goal of 16 2 for ones. That way after I tip out I have 300 plus tips. I play Sundays like a game. 3 down 13 to go... usually another dancer has a similar goal and in passing in the dressing room we might verbalize our stats and give encouragement. Sundays are tough, we have to do whatever gets us through. When a regular comes in on a Sunday and takes me to VIP I suddenly feel like I am on a cloud.

I set goals nightly and weekly. Well, you could call them 'plans' I guess, but that's just semantics. I adjust them sometimes to keep up with what's reasonable- sometimes higher, sometimes lower.

It helps me a lot- keeps me working hard until the end of the night. The only problem is, I have a habit of overworking at the beginning of the week, reaching my goal by halfway through Saturday night, and then spending the rest of Saturday not caring and being a cow to customers, thereby giving up a bit of extra income (probably).

But overall, the goals keep me happy.

I don't set goals because I feel disappointed when I don't meet them. I obviously have a plan to go in and make money, but I don't put a dollar amount on the plan. I already know how much I need when I go in every night (i.e. - $450 to fix my car, $600 for rent, $300 for bills, etc), but if I focus on the bills, I end up coming off desperate. I guess a 'plan' is similar to a goal, but I find that very little in life actually follows a plan. Instead, I reward myself with things throughout the night after I do X amount of dances.
For instance, if I want to go have a smoke, I tell myself I will make one more round of asking for dances before I leave. When I have done a few dances, I reward myself with a break. Sometimes I'll get a VIP or several dances, and I don't even worry about the break anymore until after I'm done. That usually keeps me motivated.
If I go in with $$$$ in my head, I feel all strange and mechanical. I just try to do my best.

i think you have to figure out how you work best-if you perform at your best when under pressure-then set goals. If pressure makes you crumble, then try to relax more.

As for goals, try to break it down-it makes it more achievable and easy. Lets say you want to make $1000 on a saturday? Break it down into sections. between 8pm-10 set yourself $200 as your target-thats $100/hour which means you have to roughly make $50 evry half hour-that's easy enough to do. Don't break til you do. Next say i need $500 by midnight. With any luck you've already made $200, so go for $300 in the next 2 hours-maybe aim for $50 every 20mins for instance. By 3am try to hit the $800 mark (ie; $300 in 3 hours = $100/hour) if by 3am you've made $800, you'd be amazed how easy it is to make $200 before you can go.

I find this system really helps-go for the smaller goal, that way you don't feel like this crazy amount of $$$$$$$$$$$ is outta reach

My goal usually is set like this... Whatever I make in a night 75% goes to savings... the rest to me. ME ME ME.... So if I make $100... $75 into savings... That way.... I am focused but not worried.

i don't set "goals" anymore. i just try to treat every day as if i need every dollar in the club. not in a desperate way, i just try not to think about how much i "need" to make. i don't think about bills or anything because then i start to think about wether or not i'm "ok" if i "don't" make X ammount of money, and that always hurts me in the end.
