Default Any runners here? I need foot advice.

I've been using my treadmill regualrly (daily for one hour) for the past year. Within the past two months I have noticed that the bottom of my dominant foot is becoming calloused and hard. I try to always exfoliate and use foot creams. i shower immediately after working out and dry my feet thoroughly. Is there anything that I can do to get rid of this and prevent it from happening again?

I've read on some website that there are callous creams and files that you can use, but I'd like to hear what has worked for any of you guys. I've heard callouses are raised, but mine aren't....it's just a patch of rough skin on the bottom on my foot - maybe 1" x 1". So I don't think a file would be good, since it's not raised.

    Suggestions?

Well, first callouses build to make your body able to sustain whatever it is your doing...realize that if you get rid of it, you will have very sore and tender feet when you run on th etreadmill.

That said, if you still want to get rid of callouses, use a pumice stone to rub it off after soaking your feet.

Don't be afraid of the shavers and sandpaper type calluous removers.

I have to use them every week. The first few times it freaked me out, now I love how it makes my feet feel.

As a runner, I embrace my callouses ( or is it callousie?). Anyway, they are there to protect you from the constant damage you are doing to your skin; so, if your going to continue the activity that causes them, leave them be.

I would invest in a good pumice stone. Use that after soaking in a bath one night, then use an extra thick foot cream, and put on some of those moisturizing socks (you can find them in walmart) before bed. If it is really bad use vaseline then wrap feet in saran wrap, cover with reg socks before bed. Just remember not to remove to much, or your feet will HURT the next night at work. I used to run 6 miles every morning, when I was dancing regularly. Did this every couple of weeks, and it kept my feet pretty and in good shape.

you can always change to the elliptical machine, It's not hard to get used to, and after a little while feels as good as running...

I run every day....All I use is a Pumice stone every couple of nights and it seems to work for me....but Jasmine's method seems like it would work pretty good...I'm gonna try it tonight!!
