Default Working at the Vu!! Terrible!

OK, all I can say is WOW! I went to audition at a Vu club in California and when the manager was going over rules with me I was in shock. You cannot wear skirts/dresses unless you are wearing full coverage shorts under them. You have to be 6 feet away from customers on stage if you are partially or fully nude. And get this, during lap dances you cannot take ANYTHING off at all, lap dancer are fully clothed and SO IS VIP!! And it's $150 per 30 minutes! Oh and if the manager catches you sitting in the dressing room for more than 5 minutes it's a "breech of contract" (there's a clause in the contract that states you will do your utmost as a dancer to sell adult entertainment or something like that) and the manager can penalize you and your first 8 dances of the night go straight to the house! What the hell is that crap! They can do that to you for 2 days in a row! AND, lap dances are $20 and it's a 60/40 split(dancer keeps the 40!) oh my god, I about ran out of that place. Please tell me all De Ja Vu clubs are NOT like this!! Anybody who works at a Vu club please tell me they are better than this.....

That is awful. Definitely don't work there; managers there obviously don't respect the girls at all. And how can it be a strip club if you can't strip during lap dances? Absolutely ridiculous.

i worked at a Vu club once....left before finishing my first shift, as it was so stupid. the rules and fees and tipouts gave me a headache, so i just left, considered the night a loss.

actually the rules sound close to where im at now.

we are full length gowns monday - Saturday ..short dresses on Sunday. We wear sorta booty shorts not thongs. Under all ..I actually perfer this. makes my ass look better and dude hides lil flaws. Guys dont seem to mind

i have to wear liquid latex with shimmer so it looks like pasties...

guys can't come onto the stage there is basically a 6 foot law..although its not stated as such. Doesnt seem to matter at all. Im only on stage to do something with my downtime and to market myself.

Lapdances we do airdances... BUT dancing in your dresses...if you can actually give a real lapdance isnt so bad. I mean you just have to get creative. Make them come to stage to see you half nude. But couldnt you dance in front of them half naked? just not a lapdance ? I mean there has to be ways to make it awesome.

Their club doesnt stay open because there is no money there. Someone somehow found a loop hole. its just a matter of trying to find it yourself.

As far as 60/40. I think mine is like that too..when it comes down to it. I pay roughly 100 a night to work when I step in.

20% to the house at the end.

20% of what I earn in the VIP to the VIP host.

    10 % to the DJ

10 dollars to the house mom

Then take out another 100 to work the next night.

I still in an airdance club..with pasties.. booty shorts .. a good distance on stage. No sitting on laps unless your dress is on. I still go home always with between 400 on bad nights to a typical 1000 that's after tip out..and with my next nights house money out. There are ways to make it. Trust me.

You jsut have to be confident and go in there and be erotic. it works.

The first rules sound like the norm for anywhere you go around here (except the dirty clubs... but it's still the law). As for the last half of your paragraph... Yea fucking right! That's BS! I can't even believe that. Girls around there must be desperate for work or something.

some of this is probably due to the 'California Employee Dancer' law (still in dispute) and class action lawsuits involving certain California clubs over 'employee' dancer status. Sounds like the Vu is trying to have its cake and eat it too ...

The short answer is no, they are not better. This is standard Vu / Hustler et all policy. A few of their clubs may not be able to enforce quite as much, but that kind of thing is still in all their contracts which means that CAN enforce it at any time. The clothed lapdance thing seems to be common with them, but the excessive fees and fines are standard.

Since I've only worked at one club so far, I don't have anything to compare to. But I can't think for the life of me how those places stay open or keep any staff at all!!! There's no way in hell, I'd give 60% of my hard earned money to my club, that's just crazy! I wouldn't even give 40%! It's no wonder the Vu clubs have such a bad rep and such a high turnover. My guess is the girls that are hired are brand new & don't know any better and figure out real quick that there's better options out there. I visited a Vu club in Michigan when I lived there, the one in Ypsilanti and the dancers danced naked, and this one girl that I picked gave me kind of a lapdance (the only lapdance I've had, rest airdances where I'm at now). I also remember there was a drink minimum purchase and no alcohol served, so if you wanted to be drunk there, you had to pre-party.

If I were you, I'd look around to see if there are any better options out there before I made it my place to work. If there's nothing better, then you might have to stay but I can't think there's not anything better out there, you probably will need to go look around and ask around. That's total BS though!

I would have to STRONGLY disagree with saying all Deja Vu's suck, but I do work at the Deja Vu in Ohio. We cap out after our first 7 dances on weekends, our first 6 on weekdays, and our house rent is 30 on weekdays and 50 on friday and sat. We can also get 5 bucks knocked off our base rent for every drink we sell. The only tipouts is DJ and if you want the waitstaff. Hardly high by any standard. If you can get all your drinks then its really cheap. Business isnt too bad, pretty good for the slow season, and management is really relaxed. We can sit in the dressing room, eat, make calls, and pretty much aren't hassled by management.

If you are working in the Bakersfield area, I heard that there is a topless club now in Bakersfield. I think its called The Teaser Pleaser club.

In re: the 60/40 split and the dancer only receiving 40%....... run like the wind! It's unfortunate that a dancer can't avoid these splits as alot of the clubs in South East Queensland (and one in particular here on the Gold Coast ...since I'm not welcome there I can mention it) takes 40% of every dance.

There are ALWAYS options as a dancer. Remember that. Always have a few options for possible places to work.

When I was at the Vu in Redlands I believe it was a $20 house fee and $2 from every $15 dance (tops on). It was a topless club and I always did well. It definitely wasn't 60/40. I was actually suprised at how little they took. Now they've renamed and remodeled it and it's the Hustler club, I hear it's not very good anymore and they've changed some pricing.
