    Default Pinched c7- T1 nerves

Anyone ever had their C7-T1 nerves pinched?

I have been dealing with this for a month now after a fall. I was in so much pain I even considered suicide for about an hour because I could even leave my place to get medical care. After 3 days of crawling to use the bathroom and get water and food, I ended up having to call 911 to get to see a Doctor. The first week and 1/2 I could not sit or stand pretty much at all.

I have had no one to help me as my husband is out of the country and has been unable to come back to the States due to things I am not at liberty to discuss. We just moved here several months ago so I haven't been able to make any real friends yet. So basically I have been all alone in dealing with this injury.

I am much better than that now but still can't work, type for very long, stand or walk or use my right arm for more than 15 or so minutes at a time. I am very weak and sore but at least the acute pain has passed.

I have been seeing a chiropractor who has helped alot and am now getting some other therapy several times a week but I want to be normal again, grr!!!!

Has anyone else been through this type of thing? If so, how long did it last and how long until you were normal again? Thanks.

as an ex-massage therapist, I can tell you that your injury probalby took a long time to build up to that point: months or years of repetitive motion, poor posture, etc depending on your lifestyle.

Your injury probably didn't occur overnight, and it won't heal overnight either. Just make sure you get regular therapy, whether it be massage, chiro, or whatever seems to help.

My back pain finally cleared up after A YEAR of getting regular massage (lucky me, I was in massage school at the time so it was free).

Are you doing alternating heat and ice at home at least once a day? Very important. It improves circulation to that area, speeds healing, AND reduces pain. just make sure you END with ice. Ice for 10 to 15 minutes or untill the area is numb. If you use heat only, the swelling in the area could make things worse.

Best of luck. I know how frustrating it can be. Hang in there.

I would go to a massage therapist and slowly get away from a chircopractor... in my experiance with chiros they just messed my back up more(they only provide temporary relife so you have to keep going back). Massage therapy and acupuncture work great for back problems. Good luck and keep us posted.

I have chronic back pain but it's not severe. I take hot baths now where I lay in the tub & roll my spine as much as possible while my back is warm. Hormone fluctuations affect how severe the pain is. I do drink moderately (alcohol is a muscle relaxant) & take painkillers when needed.
When you feel well enough to work out, build up the shoulder & abdominal muscles that act as a "sling" for the back.
Many people struggle with back pain, especially since the back weakens with age. This is the best reason to stay fit.

I am feeling a bit better today, thank goodness! Maybe there will be light at the end of this month long tunnel. I think I will try adding some acupuncture to my treatments which currently includes chiro, electric and regular massage, EB's and heat/ice along with anti inflammatory drugs.

Many thanks to all who replied with advice and information.

Have you thought about doing Pilates/Yoga when you are able? It's great gentle strength-training work to help build up muscle tone that was lost (and will help prevent further injury).

That sounds like a good idea. I will discuss it with my Dr. at my appointment tomorrow to see when he thinks about it. Thanks for the suggestion.

    UPDATE:

I have been feeling a little bit better everyday for the last week.I am still getting some pain in my elbow and hand and my whole arm is still quite weak. However, my pain level has dropped to the point where I can now walk on a treadmill at the gym for 30 min at a time. I think adding massage to my therapy treatments has made a MAJOR difference.

Tomorrow I go to the Dr. office to learn some specific exercises that are supposed help me strengthen and support the area around my injuries and hopefully prevent any relapses in the future. I was even told last Friday that if all continues to go well that I can start taking a basic yoga class in week or two.... yippie!

I have an appointment later this week for accupunture. I am hoping that maybe it will release whatever is causing my elbow and hand to be still be out of wack.

I am hoping to be back on the pole in a month or two

Thanks again to everyone who offered advice and well wishes!
