If we can't regulate em out of business - maybe we can fee em out of business:

Some owners feel as if they are being singled out

In Sunnyvale, where adult businesses used to thrive and still survive, the city is trying to make their owners pick up more of the cost of staying clean.

    ...

Until last year, the city was footing the bill for the checks. Then city leaders raised the annual fees adult businesses pay more than six times -- from $490 to $3,058.

Business people complained, and this year Councilman Tony Spitaleri questioned the increase, but it passed anyway -- and is now at $3,149 for 2006.

P.S. I haven't seen a tax a Kalifornia government hasn't liked. I am so glad I moved out of Kalifornia. That place SUCKS!
