    Default Tattoo Shops

So I'm considering a small tattoo. I've researched several local area shops, and I've pretty much made my choice for the tattoo. My question is for the women/men who have had tattoos. Do you find they are annoyed when you ask to see the autoclave, etc? I don't want to seem like an annoyance, but I think it's perfectly fine since you can get things like Hep C etc from tattoos.

The place I got my tattoos showed me everything up front before they started to tattoo me. They wanted me to see that everything was sterile and safe. I dont know about other places but where I go they are big on that. I got all my piercings from there as well.

All of the ink slingers I've been to have automatically shown me their tools and work place before I get work done with them.

Ok, sounds very good. I'll have to make sure they're upfront with it from the start.

It's your health. If anyone gets pissy if you ask nicely to show them the sterilization equipment, RUN. Run as fast as you can. They have no respect for your well-being, and you don't want them coming near you.

They should give you the grand tour. The should answer every single question you might have. I would research tattoos and parlours and know what to look for. Get an inked friend to go with you, get recommendations and so on.

Most places you can see the autoclave clearly. Just ask them about it. If anyone had a problem showing it to you or explaining how it works, then they wouldnt be doing my ink.

And make sure they have more than an autoclave. Do a search online, there are a lot of other safety measures that they should be taking that you will want to check out, such as fresh ink, etc.

Legit shops have no problem making sure that you witness all of their sterilization procedures...they even encourage/demand that you see it all. They open the new needles right in front of you, and you can see them wash down the station, put on the gloves, take tools from autoclave, etc. Many many are safe...just ask....also, go with your gut...if something seems off, there are lots of more options out there.

I've got 11 tats....done by a variety of artists. never had a problem with any of them. good luck to you!
