    Default weightloss/glowing skin tip

I have a really hard drinking water throughout the day, especially because I am a diet coke addict....but every week i buy a lime, a lemon, and an orange....then i cut them in wedges and but them in little bags and put them in my water (seperately of course) so it's actually fun and tasty to drink water and i'm getting some citrus which is great for your skin...

i also make a spinach salad everyday with spinach, cucumbers, a splash of olive oil, italian dressing, and pepper...all good for glowing skin...

i have also been trying to avoid all dairy products, which is doing wonders for my acne....

yeah, the cirtus definitely makes water more interesting.

i really like to add a splash of pure cranberry juice (all juice, no sugar or sweenters) along with a slice of lemon and lime to cold water. the pure cranberry is supposed to be very good for you.

I didn't know dairy products were bad for your skin! Well, I guess it makes since... They have all that sugar, right?

Dairy gives me acne. I don't eat it much cuz it hurts my stomach anyway, but when I do have a little cream cheese on a bagel, bam with the zits. It's hormonal I think...now that I'm on spironolactone, nothing really makes me break out. Thus I think dairy is only bad for your skin if you're already predisposed to acne.

Yeah, I totally agree. People with good skin can eat whatever they want. But if you have acne...dairy will break you out...they did a study and it's the whey protein in it...so if you drink whey protein work out drinks it's really bad if you have acne...

Just make sure you're getting your calcium somewhere, ladies! I want us all to be standing tall when we're 80!

Actually, I was told quite awhile ago from a naturpath that drinking lemon water (lemons squeezed/mixed with water) is very very good for you ......and totally recommended over just plain normal water. It cleanses the system wonderfully.

Cutting out dairy........... that ain't gonna happen for me... I'm a cheese-lover! I can't stand not having cheese on everything practically... Milk and yougurt I can easily not have... cheese... I would rather die. LOL!

You can get calcium from non dairy sources. I'm a big cheese eater myself, but I know raw broccoli has something like 2x the calcium in a 8oz glass of milk.

There's only 42 mgs of calcium in one cup of broccoli vs. 301 mg in a glass of fat free milk.

But as long as you're getting it from somewhere is all that matters...

i could be wrong about this, but i've read studies that suggest calcium from animal products is not very effective. and that people with diets high in dairy products actually tend to have lower bone density. but i don't know how accurate these studies were...

^That link explains some of it. I've heard before that while dairy products do have high amounts of calcium, your body has trouble absorbing most of it so in the end something like broccoli and leafy greens would be your best bet. There's a list at the bottom of the page with different plant foods and the amount of calcium they contain.

It's true that the body aborbs calcium better from non-dairy sources. You'll get 50%-60% of the calcium in broccoli vs. 30%-35% in milk. Calcium fortified foods (like OJ) seem to have better absorbtion percentages than milk.

As far as dairy worsening bone density... I'm gonna have to google it, the problem is finding unbiased research.

This is where I got most of the calcium info
And this site seems kinda cool. It's simple and has great dairy alternatives...

I get my calcium from fortified oatmeal, soy milk, and little fistfuls of tums. I think I'm fine. What I have real trouble with is the B12. That is hard to get without animal products or needles.

I used to be vegan, but am also anemic, so my homeopathic doc gave me an sublingual liquid that tasted like cherrys to take. B/c you put it under your toungue, a lot more is absorbed into the blood stream, and quicker. It was also pretty yummy.

I love dairy products. I'm from Wisconsin what can I say. Maybe my prescription products from my doctor overcome the dairy and acne thing but I have never notice any correlation between the two. I have noticed a correlation between exercise and acne though. When I exercise, my acne is much better than when I doubted. I suppose everyone is different though.

I've always thought acne resulted in me from having a higher fat diet. As soon as I started eating healthy and drinking only water my face really cleared up. I still have milk but only nonfat.

Try throwing a few (peeled) cucumber slices into your lemon water, and let it infuse for a while...so refreshing and yummy

I used to think dairy broke me out, and then I realized it was refined sugar/starches. It doesn't make everyone acne prone break out, but some people are sensitive to it.

For me it's much easier for me to keep my skin clear when I drink water and tea constantly throughout the day. That combined with keeping my hands away from my face will do the trick.
