    Default Pink Eye

Ok so I caught pink eye from one of the other dancers at work last Thursday (don't even get me started on how pissed off I am at that whole situation). So I went to the doctor Friday after I woke up with my eyes all fucked up. The doc told me that I had to use drops for a week and had to throw away any makeup that I used around my eyes Thursday night at work. Well I go back to work tomorrow, so I need to go buy new makeup today. I was wondering if any of you know if I could just scrape the top layer off the top of my eyeshadows and still use them, or if I really do need to go out and buy new eyeshadows. I used 3 different colors around my eyes at work on Thursday, and I don't want to have to go buy all 3 of them again. I know I have to buy new eyeliners and mascara, but is there a way to save the eyeshadow? That would save me tons of money right now. Thanks guys!

I don't think going into work so soon would be a good idea. You would be exposing your eye to all that smoke and stuff, causing more irritants. Oh, and I dunno about scraping the top layer off either. Why dont you call the doctors office and ask the nurse.

Whenever I've had eye infections and was told to throw the makeup away, I just scraped off the top layer of eyeshadows and broke the old tips off my eyeliners. I DID, however, throw the mascara away for obvious reasons but mascara is cheap enough to replace. MAC eyeshadows? Not so much.

I never had a re-infection just scraped top layers off.

I threw away mascara, eyeliners but not eyeshadows. I had to work with pink eye a few times. Keeping some hand sanitizer in your purse helps. Im sure you know but dont touch your eye and wash your hands more often.
Try to wear less makeup as if you were to buy new makeup now you could end up getting that infected too.

    most importantly, wash your sheets!!!!

i've had pink eye before, and my doctor told me to wash all the make-up applicaters and scrape the op layer...but i prob wouldn't risk it unless they were expensive

PLEASE reconsider going to work!!! Pink eye is highly contagious! If you must, please wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your eyes!!!

^^^ Well my doc said that 23-48 hrs after I start my eye drops I won't be contagious anymore, and I started the drops last friday, so I shouldn't be contagious anymore. I'm just worried about reinfecting myself with my makeup.

OOPS! I read that as last night... My bad! That's what I get for trying to speed read!

The scraping thing should work. When I worked in cosmetics we would "shave" the lipstick and shadows. Never had a complaint of infection for seven years...
