    Default ugh, flat stomach...?

Ok, so i have a belly, i cut out my fast food(i used to eat it two times a day) and im trying to stay away from "carbs"...but what really counts as carbs? i know like bread, pasta, cereal, potatoes does...but what else? i only eat some carbs in the morning.

also, i go to the gym on the bike or treadmill for like 45 minutes every other day..will that make a difference? i just really dont know how to loose the belly and overall weight? i also have some lovehandles to...how do you get rid of those?

what im basically asking, is , what exercises shouold i do, and what foods should eat and cut out?

    thanks to everyone who helped1

I think fruit can be carbs, it made no sense to me but I think its cause it has sugar. My best advice was to drink lots of water and only water. I know people say that its hard or that diet soda is ok, but I cut out all drinks exect for water from my diet and it had worked wonders. Eat a lot of veggies and lean meat like grilled chicked or fish. It might take weeks or months to see results but I swear it works. As in people I work with were adking me if I was taking drugs to drop weight that fast.

Not all carbs are created equal. The basic rule of thumb is to cut as much processed carbs as possible (cut down the pastas, etc). Carbs from veggies/fruits are ok. However, eat sweet fruits in moderation. So, Granny Smith apples as opposed to Gala or Red Delicious.

I would strongly advise you to read "The Body Ecology" and "Nourishing Traditions". They both give a lot of information on healthy, well, eating.

look at the nutritional information on anything you eat and you will see how many carbs each food has. almost everything other than meat and eggs have at least a few carbs. but you need carbs in your diet. like VenusGoddess said, not all carbs are created equal.

avoid refined sugars and flours. whole grains are much healthier. they contain more fiber and are digested more slowly, preventing spikes in blood sugar.

most fruits and vegetables are almost entirely carbs. but they also tend to contain a lot of fiber, water and vitamins. vegetables are, generally, a better option than fruit.

if your stomach is not flat because it has extra fat on in it, than cardio will help, for sure. but protruding stomach may also be the result of bloating, weak abdominal muscles or poor posture. avoiding salt and maintaining adquate water and fiber intake will help to alleviate bloating. abdominal exercies and yoga or pilates will do wonders for your posture.

also, you need to give it a bit of time. fat does not disappear over night. try not to get frusterated if you do not see the results you want right away. just stick with it and enjoy Feeling healthier =)

Anything processed (lunch meats), canned (soups and veggies), premade (fastfood and takeout), or packaged (frozen meals). Frozen veggies may have little to none...check the package.

if you need a really flat stomach for like modeling or something and it's just a once in awhile thing....sleep with syran wrap wrapped around your stomach...i don't really know how safe this is but i've done it a few times for special occasions and have noticed a definate difference

I have the same prob and posted a message on another dancers (non-stripper) board....someone told me use a cinch that you can buy at Wal-Mart or Sears. Havent tried it, but plan to and thought I'd pass on the suggestion.

You might have food allergies and not realize it.
Once I started experimenting with not eating or drinking things made from the common food allergens on work days, I saw a huge difference. The most common food allergens are gluten, soy, lactose, eggs and peanuts.
If I drink alclohol I only drink things not made from grains: rum, tequila, wine or champagne.
Be sure to drink a lot of distilled water. If you have UTIs a lot that will cause your mid section to bloat also. Drink 2tblspns of Braggs apple vinegar with a glass of water every day before work and that will help to keep away the UTIs.
Also make sure that you are getting at least 400 mgs of magnesium every day so your intestines don't get clogged.
My stomach is not perfectly flat; but it looks a lot better than it used to.

Just doing treadmill and bike will not create enough muscle mass to burn all the calories. Pilates is good, weightlifting is better. Do you do pole work? Once you become leaner, (and cut calorie intake) and have more muscle your body fat percentages drop everywhere cumulatively. Your body type may just tend to store the last of it's reserves there, everyone is designed differently.

But my advice for anyone wanting a flat stomach is always about 50% diet and 50% what sort of cardio and strength training you're doing, because it's all cumulative.

Peachplumper got it right, you need to build lean muscle to raise your metabolic rate. And six packs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym.

Have you ever looked up Keith Klein? He is in Houston and has worked with Playmates, Fitness Models, and numerous Beauty Queens (including my mother!) He has some amazingly yummy recipes. It's under the Institute of Eating Management. I understand you might not be in Houston; however just look him up online. He's really famous and very much so certified. He has books out I am sure...
He told me about processed carbs, complex carbs, empty calories, what Aspartame can do to you, how high and low amounts of sodium effects you, and how not all "fat free" items are created "fat free"...he told me that veggies and fruits are GREAT ways of getting your munch on instead of eating a bag of chips! He also said DO NOT SKIP MEALS, whenever my mother was working out and eating healthier for her pagaent days, she'd eat SIX, yes SIX, times a day. It'd consist of wheat bread toasted (2 peices) with Splenda brand jellies and 6 scrambled EGG WHITES or she would make one of his healthy recipes that consists of different turkey, fish, & chicken ideas! YUMMY FOR SURE!! He told her that she could do fruits such as apples, raspberries, blueberries (which he recommended be/c they are GREAT antioxidents) what ever if she wanted to spice it up with something sweet.
    As for MY experience:
I went to him and in within a month I dropped at least twelve pounds. I was doing the stairmaster (GREAT for butt and legs), the treadmill, and my crunches on a exercise ball (MUCH BETTER response than just doing crunches on the floor, he told me so!) three times weekly. ALTHOUGH he does say that if you need to, ALLOW YOURSELF A CHEAT DAY ONCE A WEEK. A day to not workout and eat whatever--in MODERATION. He states IT IS ALLLLL ABOUT MODERATION.
I am Epileptic (has seizures for those who dont know) and so diet plays a key role in how many seizures I have. Carbs and Sugar are definitely the enemy with me. As is Aspertame and fake sweeteners, although Splenda is fine for me. Find out what is your nutritional enemy and voila. Drink a lot of water like I do, cut out eating after 6:30 (Keith Klein suggestion) unless you need a snack because you are starving, which you can munch on baby carrots, fruits, and if you need to...make yourself a little fruit salad of sorts.

Combined with exercise such as stripping, you will lose weight.

    TRUST ME.

to be blunt, some of it is also genetics.

Some people just have naturally flatter stomachs than others. Just try to make yours the best you can.

I know people who works out tons, eat healthy, all the "smart" stuff, and still don't have the ideal flat stomach.

I also know people who eat crap, dont work out, etc. and have amazing flat stomachs.,

So, eat intelligently, workout, but also be aware of your body shape.

Try taking a pottasium supplement. I just found out that a lot of people have a pottasium defiency which can cause bloating.

Work on your lower abs and obliques, this will `lift` everything you already have. Check your posture, when I straighten up I have a flat tum, when Im standing like I normaly do with my sway back I dont

Alchohol, coffee and bread makes my tummy bloat. Giving them up for only 3 days flattens my tum so quickly.

Crunches and Sit Ups irritate my intenstines and cause bloat, only Yoga has a good effect on my abs and obliques.

Your diet diet diet. You can exercise as much as you want but the only thing that will make you lose that last bit of pesky fat is your diet. Just sucks because it seems like your problem area is always the laaaaast to go. I wish it was the opposite!!

And remember, not all sugars and fats are created equally. The kind of sugar that is in a Snickers is NOT the kind of sugar in an apple, the kind of fat that is in an avocado is not the same kind of fat that is in a Big Mac.
