Default Telling potential roommates you're a stripper

So, I just finished school in April and have decided to move a town away and continue stripping in Michigan (at least until I pay a bigger chunk of my student loans). I got a two bedroom apartment in a really nice complex and have put ads up online on Craig's list and Roommates.com to find a roommate. I didn't want to put that I'm a stripper in my ads, but I wondering hat the best way to tell people is after I click with them. Anyone else go through this?

I never had a rommie, but i'm sure they wouldn't care because they'd know you'll always have your portion of the bills.

If they don't ask, don't tell. Also, if they do ask.... until you can trust them enough esp. if you keep ANY cash at "home"... just say you work a night-time job. How are you going to 'screen' potential room-mates? Are you looking for someone with daytime employment so that they can be home whilst you are working ... that would help with safety.

I'd just go ahead and say I work at a bar. I'd leave my dancer bag in the car until they leave for work in the morning. Oh, and I would also suggest you get one of those diverson safes (looks like a bottle of water, hairspray can, pop can) and put your money in that.

I would tell them. Why not save yourself the trouble if they turn out to have major issues with it later, once you already live there? Which THEY WILL find out. Of COURSE they will. Why would you want to take the chance of living with someone who might sit around in front of you talking about what skanks they think strippers are, anyway?

I so don't get the idea of covering it up around people you live with. I understand not trumpeting it to parents, schoolmates, people at your other job, but boyfriends and roommates--when people say they're hiding their stripping jobs from boyfriends (or husband or girlfriends or whatever) or roommates, it blows my mind. The world is full of potential boyfriends and roommates, why hook up with one you can never be honest with? What possible value could there be in a relationship where you can't tell the truth about your job?

Why not just live alone? Are you able to support yourself well enough stripping? Maybe transfer into a one bedroom apartment in the same complex It is best to only make friends and hang with people who do or are cool with what you do, and avoid all others. Roommates are a pain in the ass. It is ALWAYS better to live alone.

Definately tell them. Theyd' find out sooner or later and you want to make sure you're living with someone who'd be okay with it. I wouldn't worryabout it, actually. I'm sure when you're talking to them the questions of where and when you work and your income will come up. I'd say, "I work at _____. I'm looking for someone who can understand that it is just a job and wouldn't behave any differently than if I waitressed at Denny's".

I found a great roommate on craigslist. After emailing back and forth and meeting in person twice, I knew we clicked and I told her what I do for a living. She had/has no problem with it. In my ad, I was upfront with my hours. Everyone who responded assumed that I was a night shift nurse. Odd, huh?

Like Tina, I would not get a roommate. Pain in the ass! I wouldn't be able to feel comfortable keeping my money in the house; they might not pay their bills; they may bring in annoying guests - the list goes on. Noise - I hate noisy roommates!!

I would only live somewhere I can afford to pay the bills on my own and screw the whole roommate thing. Can you pay for your new apartment with the money you make stripping?
