    Default Rewarding Myself

Okay, so I joined a gym last week. I like to be able to give myself a little treat after working out, but I want to make sure that it's healthy and not something I'll overdo. I love going to the tanning salon, but honestly, I'm tanorexic as it is, and I don't think it's okay for me to go tanning more than 3 times a week. I've already tanned 4 times this week. Another thought is getting a mani/pedi, but I only do that once every 2 weeks or so...so, any suggestions on how I can reward myself after each work-out? Something that is either no cost or low cost? Something that doesn't involve food (that's another set of issues) or tanning?

I'll get myself a pretty little something I've been thinking of (an eyeshadow, a pen, a plant). I'll also give myself so-and-so much time just for me and take a nice long bath and read a trashy book. Maybe go out to a movie you've been wanting to see?
(I live like kind of an ascetic right now, so there's plenty of ways for me to treat myself.)

New lotions, bath salts, things that go on your body
a few magazines at the store
    new book
    new workout dvd

just some off the top of my head stuff.

Sit in the sauna or Jacuzzi bath after the workout, if your gym has them
Buy a boxed assortment of herbal teas & try a new one after every workout (boring, I know, but you said no food)
Save a book for the treadmill & only read it on the treadmill (kind of "2 birds with one stone" thing)
New nailpolish shade every day, kinda labor intensive, but working out shreds polish anyway.

I agree with madmaxine....I loved saving my magazines (or audiobooks on ipod) for only the gym. Then it became habit to go, so now I don't reward myself and read them on the pooper.

And speaking of ipod, I listen to all the songs I really like on it, and only use it at the gym. Like I won't listen to them anywhere else. If it's on the radio, I change the station. I don't like to "waste" songs that get me pumped up.

Give yourself an at home facial. Go buy a 1 new piece for work or your wardrobe or make up every now and again after a work out if you can afford to.

thats just really off the top of my head... when I can think more I'll post more

    -rent a movie
-treat yourself to one new piece of makeup such as eyeshadow, lipstick, etc.
-buy yourself a new piece of jewelry, such as one pair of earrings or a necklace
-play computer games or video games if you like them after your workout

I like the idea of buying a book or magazine and saving it for your workout to make the time go by faster.

I waste way too much time on the Internet, so sometimes what I'll do is tell myself I can't surf the Web until I'm done with my workout. That motivates me to go work out.

I'm the same as Emily-I usually only listen to my MP3 player music when I'm working out. I don't want to get sick of my workout songs.

I like to set small goals like.... workout 4 times this week and the treat for myself is a new piece of workout clothing to show off all of my hard work.

How about those inexpensive chair massages? They're all over the place and you can coodinate them with your weight training. Like, if you did legs, get a 15 min leg massage. Back and chest, well... just get the back massaged! They're usually $20 and under and some even offer foot reflexology so it would be like getting the best part of a pedi whenever you'd like!

After having gone to the gym 5 days in the past week and working 6 shifts, today is my lazy day. I'm supposed to be going shopping for various things, but what have I been doing for the last hour and a half?? Surfing between MySpace and SW...

^Lazy days are my FAVORITE reward. I sleep in, then I lay on the couch and watch cartoons.
