    Thumbs down Ugh HowCool

    Okay I ordered my costume from HowCool 3 weeks ago... it still says its processing, which means it hasnt been shipped . Im thinking I should call them but I cant even find a phone number. I NEED that costume by Friday next week. Im not a very happy girl right how

    That sucks Cally...I hope you get it straightened out. I ordered from them a long time ago and they took 3 MONTHS to send me my shoes-and they didn't even bother contacting me to explain why it was taking so long! Needless to say, I wasn't very happy and never ordered from them again. I usually order from Flirt, Forplay, or Snaz 75 and I haven't had problems with any of them.

    We need a sticky of crappy unreliable companies.

    I had a similar problem with Krysel's Kloset. THEN, when the stuff DID arrive, half of it was missing!

    What was the costume? If it's an easy one, maybe you can cancel the order and I can copy it & bring to Tbay-

    Lemme explain why it sometimes takes forever to get your merchandise when you order from online stores.

    Overwhelmingly, these are not heavily organized operations. Most of these businesses are run by someone working out of their house. They don't keep product in stock - they get it dropshipped from the manufacturers. This is why, when you order multiple items from the same website, they are sometimes shipped separately - they are coming from different manufacturers. There are alot of things that can go wrong in this scenario:

    1. Manufacturers - The retail website owner may submit your order to the manufacturer for processing immediately, but they are dependent on the manufacturer to ship on time. Some manufacturers are better than others about shipping on time, and the ones that aren't so good about shipping, also aren't so good about answering calls/emails from small retailers. Sometimes they run out of product and don't inform all their internet retailers, so the retailer may still have the item for sale on their site even though it's not available. Some of these manufacturing businesses are also mom/pop type operations, many of whom seem to be a little flaky.

    2. Retailers - Like I said, most of these are Joe/Jane Blows running a side biz from the home computer. They may not have the time or inclination to keep up on all the details as they should - what with having to work around regular jobs, social lives, feeding little Timmy, etc. Which means they may not update their online catalogs or keep up with chasing the slower-to-ship manufacturers as they should. Also, if they're running a business out of their house, they'll be less inclined to provide phone numbers for you to call because they don't want a bunch of pissed off strippers calling at 3am to bitch about late shipments

    A big problem for me has been needing to keep on top of manufacturers to ship stuff on time when I get orders. That and keeping the damn site working (server, database issues). Because of all this, I've closed the regular website entirely and moved back to ebay. I still have the site open but pointing to my ebay / amazon stores. I'll only post stuff for sale that I've ordered and have on hand ready to ship, or from the manufacturers I know dropship in a timely manner. It's just simpler that way

    After having dealt with / met quite a few of these people in the past 2-3 years, I've come to the conclusion that, like stripping, the stripper gear industry attracts a lot of flakes.

    Last but not least, it's the internet. For those who are less self-motivated, it's easier to flake out on a customer they will never see in person....

    As for OP's particular dilemma - you are probably shit out of luck. If you haven't received the order by now and you need it for next week, you should look elsewhere for an outfit and dispute the credit charge for the one you haven't received.

    Best bet for future is to only order from known businesses that have a good reputation.

    wow-- I actually had a really great experience with krystels. I had to be in vegas in a few days, contacted them the morning after I'd ordered it and the lady found the shoes in the warehouse and even upgraded my shipping to three day, or overnight I can't remember which.

    Electriqueboutique is pretty good. I've also had good luck with buying directly from companies before so if you can find out who produces it, then there's an option.

    Also-- try looking at the catalogue the local sex shops have. I just went to a local place and was surprised at how many costumes they had. Plus they showed me the catalogue of stuff they could order. Awesome!!!

    Good Luck. that really sucks. I'd cancel the order and place another one somewhere else

    I always check a new business on BBB.com. This can also help people who order from American sites to Canada too. If they have a low score then I wont be ordering from them at all. Better safe than sorry. If they are just ok then I will give the company a call and see how reliable their customer service is.

    I just read this on their site:


    US Shipping: Most items are shipped within 15 business days. Occasionally, our distributors will run out of stock on an item. If this happens, we will continue to reorder the backordered item until the item is received or until our customer provides us with a suitable substitution or cancels the item in question.

    Maybe that's what they are doing to Cally.

    There is sooo many things available on that site- so I assume it's just some company receiving orders then placing orders with the manufacturers...

    I'm not so sure I'd want to order from them even though they have shoes I haven't seen on any other site.

    I ordered a pair of shoes from them 3 weeks ago..they sent me a e-mail saying it was processing,then i got a e-mail Friday saying it was on backorder and they cant say a exact date i would get them.I cancelled the order and went on snaz to see if they had the shoes,on snaz it says they are discontinued!

    All of the three times I have placed orders on How Cool it has taken up to 6MONTHS to get my order shipped to New Zealand, first of all I got told it was on backorder with a two week wait, then backorder with delivery date unknown then finally an email saying the item was discontinued etc. I would definately never order from them again as an overseas customer!

    I've ordered from Howcool I think three times. The shortest time it took was about four weeks (i'm in Canada too). The longest was maybe six weeks? I really do like the stuff I've ordered, which is why I went back. But unless I order ebay, it all seems to take forever, even snaz. Stuff gets stuck at the border.

    Hope it comes for you this week Cally! But usually you get another email when they ship the stuff, and then it takes about a week before you get it...

    Yea im calling them in the morning, im going to see if I can find it on EBay and order it from there. Im not happy at all.

    What I find funny is I ordered my pole a couple of days after ordering that costume... i've had my pole for over a week now... and it came from the US as well. Go figure

    They SUCK at giving refunds! They never gave me refund of the shoes I returned, even though I sent it back with delivery confirmation and the post office said it was delivered. They kept blowing me off for 6 months, until they basically told me they had no record of me and that they can't help me. I was out almost 60 bucks after shipping! I will never, ever order from them again.

    Well I just called them and they said they JUST recieved the order the other day and he will push the order up so it gets shipped out today and they're going to ship it as a gift so it doesnt get stuck in customs and I will have it by Friday... we'll see about that
