Default what happens AFTER the antibiotics?

so I figured my immune system is pretty fucking shot from five or six weeks of a cold/horrible sore throat, and not to mention three rounds of antibiotics (one time I might have fucked up but I don't think I had enough pills, the second time I KNOW the doc fucked up because he shorted me a day on the pills, and I'm in the midst of the third round.)

So, if my system is shot, can someone outline for me what to focus on to get my immune system back on track? How long do I have to be "good" diet and vitamin wise before I can go back to eating regular stuff (which isn't all that horrible, but I do eat out a lot--and when I do I don't get the really crappy stuff. Mostly its sandwiches or grilled veggie pitas.)

I also figure that I'll need to wipe everything down and wash my sheets and what not, but I'm worried that even with all of that this bacteria (which is the general consensus, that it's a bacterial infection since all my symptoms went away after the second round of antibiotics only to come ROARING BACK -stupid doctor-) might get me again.

I know that the antibodies supposedly kill that type of strain but after being sick this long (and this week has been the WORST, and murphy's law dictates that I had to turn down more parties this past week than I've had even offered to me in the past two or three weeks combined) I'm scared of it coming back.

I'm scared that while logically I know I won't ALWAYS be sick, it feels like it and I need to get healthy.

Id like to know this too. Like you I've gone through some grueling repeated rounds of antibiotics and my IS has been off for a long time. I heard pro-biotics are good after anti-biotics...

    all the usual suspects:

1.pro-biotics every day for at least 1 month - the living kind that you keep in the fridge (expensive little devils they are too).

    2.fresh fruit & veg

    3.sleep

    4.acupuncture. <<< i'm so about this now -- it's my 'cure-all'

I used to get very sick with sinus infections all the time. Every other month I would have to take a full round of anti-biotics, which really messed up my system. The more anti-biotics I took the more resistant my body became to taking them and actually having them work. I got so fed up with it that now I try to keep myself healthy on my own. I take lots of vitamins every day. Here is the link where I have listed out the vitamins that I take. http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sho...light=vitamins

I drink at least 2 cups of green tea everyday. I workout everyday. I try to get outside and do cardio so I can get some fresh air and natural sunlight. Sleeping 8 hours a night is important to repair your imune system. I eat approx. 2 cups of yogurt everday as well, which is important if you have been taking a lot of anti-biotics since anti-biotics kill the good bacteria too.

At home I am a clean freak. I clean and sanitize everything daily. Recently I have been using a non-toxic clorox spray that you can spray on everything to kill germs.

Every morning I make a mixture of pure sea salt and boiling water and inhale it for a few minutes. This helps with my sinus infections and I think it helps clear bacteria from the nasal passage. I gargle with the salt water too.

    I hope this helps.

Honestly, if you eat for shit, your immune system will be worth shit.

Eating trans fats will suppress your immune system for up to 30-60 days with ONE serving of it. Eating processed foods do not give your body the good/bad bacteria that it needs to balance out the flora in your intestinal track making digestion poor which results in an insufficient absorption of vitamins/minerals from the foods you are eating.

Personally, I would suggest that you just use this time to start a body-wise, healthy way of eating. Sure, you can still eat out...but not as much...or find places that are more "health conscious". But, you cannot expect your body to run at top notch health while feeding substandard quality food.

Read "The Body Ecology" and "Nourishing Traditions". You will most likely be quite shocked at the info in there.

Taking probiotics, while ok, will not do much good if you are not eating the proper foods.
