    Kandee -

You might want to look at the YMCA's in Tucson. Depending on what part of town you are in, the Lohse Family Y Downtown is nice as is the Lighthouse/City Y at Grant & Columbus.

I workout at the YMCA's here in Phoenix because they are not pick-up places and they are usually not overcrowded. Just people working to get in better shape.

I'm pretty much on the eastside, except when I have to go to class, so I joined up at Gold's. They got me some sort of discount and I'm only paying $20/month. So I'm pretty happy.
And no one's tried to hit on me yet. Is that a good thing?

Just joined LA Fitness here. It opens end of September. The first facility in the midwest, they tell me. Now of course I'm wanting to take a scuba class and get certified. Anyone know if LA Fitness offer that? Just my luck if they don't. I'm already a little ticked that this new gym will lack racketball courts. Loved rball back in my college days.

In the last several years, after having been to Planet Fitness-type gyms, I've been a Gold's member and it's been great. Plenty of space, plenty of gear, plenty of staff and very good hours of operation for $42 a month, for life. My particular gym could stand to have more hot chicks vis a vis sweathog mamas, but that's a minor quibble I guess.

With any of the big chains (including Gold's), everything is dependent on the quality of the franchise management. Just something to keep in mind.

Racketball is fun! I used to do that afterschool (back in middleschool! ha!) everyday. Mostly because it was the coolest part of the building with the high concrete walls...

I never saw a suba class at LA fitness. Only water aerobics classes. And I've never seen anyone under the age of 60 in a water aerobics class.

I belong to LA Fitness right now but I've lately started running outside. I get bored of being inside of a gym all the time. And the area I live in, Palm Beach Florida, is the land of the Blue home of the Grey, lots of older folks if you know what I mean. Sometimes its hard to be motivated in gyms in Palm Beach because the average age of most of the people here is over 55 and the reason many of them are working out is because "The doctor told them they had to"

Im moving to miami soon, thank God, it'll be nice to be around younger people, and I'm thinking of signing up with a "Female Only", type of gym. I think the name out here is called, "Ladies of America". Does anyone have any experience with Female only gyms??????? They seem like a great alternative. It would be nice not to feel like I'm being ogled (sp)? by all the old geezer perverts that live in the area. Weird thing is I don't even dress overtly sexual and I still feel visual raped! lol I guess I wouldn't mind if they would just hand me a couple of bucks after staring.

So, what's everyones take on the "Female Only", gyms????????? Opinions please.

Many Gold's locations have Women Only sections of the gym.
