lots of squats and use wieghts
I second pilates and yoga. You WILL see results in 6 weeks if you work for it. It's quite possible. Go get 'em!!
If you can find bikram yoga, sign up. It's incredible but you need to go at least 5 days a week for a 6 week program. You will notice the difference in your body, flexibility, strength, and stamina.

Spinning classes will burn off any extra weight, so will swimming.

lots of running... especially short sprints... squats, lunges, weights...
Big new fan of Bikram! But "5 days a week"? Gowd. No way, Jose. I'm going 2X week, plus other aerobic activities (ellypical & skating). Haven't picked up weights again, however; I'm still weak as a kitten in my upper body.Originally Posted by azcustomer

I did sprints 3x a week across the football field. I sprinted 20 yards jogged 40, I did that 10 times (there and back equals 1 time).
My booty has never looked better!
As stated above- try to get cardio in every day. Warm up at least 10 minutes, and make sure you keep your heart rate up as you are doing your lunges/squats etc. My old trainer had me doing circuits with light weights and heavy reps, but in between sets he would have me run, stairclimb, jump around etc. tp keep my heart rate up. So basically, if you never really rest that much the whole time you are working out, you are getting the double whammy and you will see good results quickly.
Low weight, high rep training. I have a legs day that kills me every time. If done 2-3x a week, I can pretty much guarantee amazing results. PM me if you want it. Plus, belly dancing toned and killed me when I added it to my regular routine. I hates me some cardio but, it's dancing, so I don't notice the time going by.
I agree with Pilates and Yoga. Also, try to do at least 30 minutes of cardio per day to blast the fat off. I do kick boxing which burns a ton of calories quickly. It's tough workout, but it can be fun. With Pilates and Yoga you should tone up pretty quickly. Just make sure that you do something every day even if you do not have a lot of time. Twenty minutes of doing something is better than doing nothing.
I also wanted to mention that when you start dancing you will tone up naturally just from dancing.

Beat me to the punch, but I would through dance and light weights into the mix for some great toning. Pilates and yoga are just fine though, since they are a blast too!Originally Posted by GoldCoastGirl

Pilates, light weights/high reps, and cardio. It worked for me in less than 4 weeks!
Horseback riding!
Works like a charm for me.I've got legs like you wouldn't believe. Hehe.
But something that's easier access and doesn't require a live animal would be kickboxing, pilates, yoga, hiking, weights, ect.
If you find something you like, your more likely to stick with it and see results. It's not really WHAT kind of work out you do, it's more like HOW and HOW OFTEN you do it. You gotta stick with it to see the results.

Horseback riding is a lot of fun, unfortunately it is a very expensive hobby, as owning your own horse costs a fortune.

I find pilates compliments my riding muscles very well when I'm not able to ride, so check that out too.
