    Default surgery pre op

so i go under for surgery on the 31st. I have one question though for contacts,

Do you absolutely, positively have to take them out?

god, after surgery i am always a total wreck. I have been dating this guy i know for 3 months and he insists on taking me. I REALLY have a problem with him seeing me like that.

    What do you girls think?

    tampa, he's an awesome guy.

There are hundreds/thousands in the world that you should worry about being seen in less-than-stellar appearance in front of.... but not this one.

That dude has every piece of respect I have to offer.

You have a problem with you boyfriend seeing you in glasses?
I used to be very self concious about wearing glasses but then one day you realise that other people really dont see you any differently (-:

I am going to assume that if he cares enough about you to take you to have your surgery her really isnt going to care about how bad you think you may look afterwards (-:

i think you have to let the surgeon know. it 'should' be ok seeing that surgery usually only lasts an hour or two snd if yor contacts are extended wear (like mine) you are able to wear them to sleep for a few hours.

i go in for surgery in 12 days, i'm just going in glasses. contacts are the last thing i want to worry about when i feel that sore, also i wouldn't want to risk being to groggy or uncoordinated to take them out then having to ask the boyfriend to do it.....too close for comfort

TFD, you would look great with no matter what glasses you wear. No one expects someone to look perfect all of the time. As a matter of fact, a big part of intimacy is being allowed to see someone else as they are ... with their hair down and not made up.

OOPs.. didn't see the What do you GIRLS think..

I wouldn't worry about your guy seeing you after surgery, no makeup, whatever. He seems like a really decent guy and you'd be hot with no makeup just like you are with it.

As far as contacts, I recall having to take them out for my nose and I just took them out and my mom drove my blind ass to and from the hospital.

it depends on the surgery. If you are having something done to your face, your eyes might get swollen shut. You could get an infection, or permanent damage from lack of oxygen, or even a torn cornea trying to take out dry lenses. Anesthesia dehydrates the body. Just don't wear them, you don't have to drive anyway...

Wear a big hat & take a nap in the back seat on the way home. Make him "look away" when you go in the house.
You're so lucky you have a guy willing to do this for you!

haha, that's what I did when contacts dried out my eyes. Theyre cut black thin wired with little rhinestones at each end. Very retro

brow lift and nose surgeries for breathing.
Ill be under for maybe 3 hrs total. I wear them to sleep all the time. Even with the anesthesia i still dont think it will be that much of a problem.

Don't wear them. Even under anesthesia, your eyes may not close all the way. Frequently in the OR, the anesthesiologist will put a little eye lube in your eyes and tape them shut so your corneas won't dry out. Not good for contacts. ORs in general ares super cold with dry air and that alone will dry your contacts out and make them very unpleasant to wake up in.

exactly. in any serious relationship, both people involved are eventually going to see each other in a less than ideal state. physically, emotionally, whatever. if his affection for you is contingent upon your being perfect 100% of the time, well, that is impossible to keep up.

you're having surgery. you might not look quite as fabulous immeadiately after. it's very temporary. and if he's really as wonderful as Mast says he is, he will be too concerned about how you're feeling to even notice

Ok Tampa, you are getting surgery on your face. You've had it before, you know that your face will swell up. It will be hard to remove those lenses for several days, and your eyes may be swollen shut. Why take the risk. I'm sure you look very cute in glasses. Do you wear colored lenses or something and he doesn't know your true eye color?

And why, dear, at your age, do you need a brow lift? That's for older women.

You are way more than your looks; be 'perfect' for him by being perfectly willing to let him see you in that vulnerable state. It'll mean way more to him, unless he's a loser.

    You're so pretty, you're probably even crazy-hot post-surgery anyways!

The only thing i have done to my face was to get rid of a slight bump on the dorsal of my nose. Now it needs to be redone. My eyes were not even close to swollen shut, but this is a different surgeon and a totally different procedure.

    I wont wear glasses..

Hey, I just remembered something Tampa. When I had surgery I didn't bring my glasses. They gave me a lense case and saline RIGHT before I went into the operating room. After the procedure, you'll be too groggy to even open your eyes significantly, so you'll be fine!
